Hi!!!

I finally bought the book last night (book store was sold out of it last week!!) and i started today!!

I have a question about beans and legumes. I realise we're allowed to have these and was wondering if there were any restrictions on them (quantity limit?). I see in the book that the canned ones are higher up the glycemic index than the not canned ones. I was wondering if we were allowed to have the canned ones as well. I'm a student and don't have a lot of time for cooking and beans take forever to cook when they aren't canned.

Anyways, so far the day has been great!

They're having this conference at the university and there were muffins and donuts EVERYWHERE and i really really wanted one, but I resisted and now i feel really good about that!

Love this board!

I've just switched to frozen but for the first two months, I ate canned. I've surpassed my goal of weight loss and have set a new goal so they worked for me. There's not that big of a difference as far as GI. Of course dried are the lowest but I do not have the time for that. Ria925 uses them though.

Hi & welcome,

Canned beans are just fine and there is no limit. So----enjoy!

Also, great job resisting those donuts. You should be very proud of yourself. Remember thin feels better.

Good Luck!

Yes, canned are fine. I tried frozen and didn't like them and dried take too long but sometimes I'll cook them on the weekends when I have more time. I'm a student too as well as working part time and interning part time, so I know how you feel. I think pinto beans and black eyed peas are the only ones not allowed until phase 2. Good luck!

Hi Time,

I agree with everyone here. I use only the canned beans. I just don't have the time or the gumption to cook the dried ones from scratch. My favorite beans are "small white" Goya brand, kidney beans, and sometimes black beans. Go for them, and enjoy! There really isn't an exact limit per se, but they're not without calories and carbs, even though they are low-glycemic carbs. Eating a big plate of beans might be a bit much. My instinct is that having beans as the main dish might not be OK, but I'm also not really sure about that either. Anyone have any ideas on that? I'd love feedback. Anyway, I typically add them to salads, and I make a white bean salad typically with some chopped tomatos, fresh minced garlic, basil, balsamic vinegar, and a little olive oil. That's my fave. And I have it as a side dish.

I usually eat legumes of some sort every day, often twice a day, and have from the start. I'm doing great.

Lots of success!! Glad you are loving it! Way to go!

u guys know what?

the thing with legumes is, that you can't eat too many of them anyways...

today i sorta overate a bit, and had a whole can of legumes

and u know what happens when u eat beans...

so i think that in the end, that itself will limit somehow my legume intake and "save" me from breaking the diet from the carbs in the beans!

Love this board and all of u!
