Since I am sure most of you have already read the book, maybe you can answer this for me:

On Atkins, pregnant, breastfeeding women or people with kidney problems SHOULD NOT do the Atkins diet. I was wondering if this is the same for SBD. It seems to be a healthy way to eat all the time, so if it is healthy, can one assume that everyone can eat this way? I have been having vague pains in the right side of my lower back, and am wondering if this is kidney-related, in which case I would be afraid to continue atkins (I am on that now). I plan to get the SBD book someday when I am not so broke, to learn and compare with all the previous info I have, but this is a time-sensitive question for me.

Thanks

It is suggested that you go into phase 2 instead of starting with phase 1. I did Atkins too and this WOE is much healthier. Good luck!

Would I still lose weight if I skip over phase 1?

Thanks

yes you will still lose weight...at least i did. I was a gestational diabetic and without calling it anything, I was on what we call phase 2. In the last 3 months of my pregnancy, I gained nothing although my little boy was growing at a steady pace and came to us a healthy 8 pounds 2 ounces. Even pregnant women can do a modified Atkins although leaner meats and cheese are suggested. Not to mention we don't measure our veggies.

Good luck and if you eat enough of the right foods, you will lose weight. Exercise speeds up the process as well
