Hello everyone,

First off, I'd like to say how much I love this website. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I've been on sbd since monday and i've lost 6.5 pounds. Yippy!!!!!!! How exciting. It has given me the boost I needed.

I was wondering if anyone found any low carb, protein or power bars that are allowed on phase one. I don't have time to cook breakfast and i'm having a hard time with breakfast. I need something that I can grab and go. Any suggestions.

Thanks so much

Good luck to all and have a great night.

Hi Heather,

Congratulations on your success so far!! That's great.

I think that the lowcarb bars are not a good idea. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear, but Dr. Agatston has updated his list of acceptable foods (expanded it really, to add all different types of veggies), but he also addresses some of the common questions, such as yours, that people have been asking. He pretty much thinks that they're not OK as a meal replacement. I just tried to find the old message that someone posted here... there was a link to the revised list which will better explain it. Does anyone know where it is??

Have you tried making the quiches? I never did, because they didn't appeal to me. One of the things I can suggest is cooking up 6 or 8 hard-boiled eggs, so you can grab them and go, with maybe a six-ounce can of V-8 or tomato juice. Another thing, if you like omelets, you might be surprised at how quickly you can make them with just a little preparation the night before. Actually, when I make salads, I always chop up some veggies and put them in mini glad-ware containers, and every few days I chop up a few onions and fry them. This way I have veggies to throw into an omelet in the morning. Suddenly a delicious and interesting breakfast is little more trouble than scrambled eggs. Just watch those onions on phase I. Dr. Agatston has recently said that 1/2 an onion per day is the limit.

Well, not sure if I helped. Hope so.

Lots of luck and continued success!!

Hugs,

Jill K.

Hello Jill,

Thank you so much for your suggestions and your input on the low carb bars. Your suggestions were very helpful. I did make the quich and I didn't care for them at all. I could even get them down which is pretty bad for me, I can eat just about anything. I think it was the spinich in them. Oh well, I'll keep trying new things.

Thanks again and gook luck with you too.

Hi Heather,

You're very welcome. Hopefully someone will post the link I mentioned.

Have you thought of trying the quiche with some other veggie? Would broccoli work?

Anyway, you've got the spirit... keep on trying things. And just remember, it's just for two weeks. Even if you decide to just eat hard-boiled eggs for the rest of phase I, and that gets maddenly boring, you can do it. It's just temporary!! That was my mantra... "I can do this. It's just for two weeks". It got me through!

Hugs,

JK

Below is a link to what Dr. A had to say about energy bars in a recent Daily Dish:

Also, I tried making the quiches with broccoli. It totally changed the texture of them (firmer).

Heather,

How about some string cheese for breakfast? Or a dish of cottage cheese?
