Tough Day

Today has been a difficult day. It'll be my sixth week on Tuesday on this diet. I have lost 13 lbs...awesome, but today...EVERYTHING I usually eat just didn't sound good. I'm babysitting tonight, and of course it's junk food city. Does anyone have any ideas of something I could have that wouldn't be bad for me? I think it's because there is so much change going on with me right now...I just ended my job and about to Start my new full time job Monday. Which is very exciting and I'm thrilled...but I'm in a rut right now...not necessarily with weight loss, because I just lost two pounds this week, but I feel like I can't find anything to eat that I'm not sick of...any ideas would be great. I've been really good on this diet...very little cheating. one chip...or one taste here or there...but never more. HELP!

Thanks in advance!

Amy,

If you are up for crunchy, how about some raw veggies. Or how about some nuts or cheese? A lot of kids eat string cheese, so hunt for some of that. Celery and peanut butter is also a kid thing, so maybe there is some of that. If there is not a lot of healthy food around, some popcorn wouldn't be the worst thing in the world! I saw on the prevention.com chat with the dr who wrote the book someone who had quit smoking asked about eating popcorn every night. The dr commented that if a bowl of popcorn helped the person not to smoke that it wouldn't hurt him/her. So, search for something healthy, but keep it in perspective, too.

Slow weight loss is usually suggested so that it stays off. Two pounds a week sounds pretty good to me. I know it is frustrating, but stay the course! You are learning healthy eating.

I tend to eat poorly during times of change. You are already aware that big changes are coming, so plan some non food treats that you enjoy (a new scarf, a new shade of nail polish, a bubble bath, or a good book) to boost your spirits.

Best of luck.....Annmarie

I've been trying to treat myself well...I got my hair highlighted yesterday...I was way over do. Turned out great! I wish they would develop some new foods that are junk food, but not fattening or full of carbs! :) So they don't have a whole lot of fresh veggies. I did find some Kashi cereal...so I might munch on that...or they have some 5 grain crisp bread and I'm thinking about melting some cheese on top. That sounds good.

Annemarie, how have you done on this diet? I feel great...but I definitely have some more weight to loose. I would be decent at the weight I'm at, but I'd love to loose another 5-7 pounds.

They have popcorn here...but it's movie theater butter...and that's way fattening.

anyways, thanks for the suggestions...hopefully something will turn up!!

It is all good. This board is great for support. Just hang in their. Babysitting always was a great source of junk food. Just keep thinking of the results. Fun! lol. I know it's hard, and if I was in your position, I don't know what I would do. Just breathe, and maybe next time, bring your own snacks? Just a suggestion.
