Yes, this is a WOE, but when it comes right down to it, I want to be informed as to my best choices. Yes, I will have a treat now and again because that is my option. I know how to adjust here and there, but I don't do it with food. I do my adjusting with exercise. That is my way of doing things.
In response to your comment about SBD and the philosophy... "We just adusted our menu for the next day and allowed for the extra special treat. It is my understanding this is what this plan is all about!"... In my most humble opinion, this WOE is about making the right choices for a healthier body and life. It's about choosing wheat over white, Brown rice of over white rice, an apple over pineapple... etc. The pumpkin issue came up because of a calculation, and a few questions wondering if pumpkin was high on the GI. It is high, but it may or may not mess with your system. Me, I seem to be doing all right. You, you seem to be doing all right. however, someone else might have a bodily problem. It happens.
There seems to be a lot of experience and brain power on this board. Lots of people trying lots of different things. If your post wasn't intended to be negative, then I do apologize. No one was telling you not to eat your pudding. We were all trying to figure out the ins and outs of the pudding.
Have a good evening,
Ria

I'm fully aware that it is a lifestyle change. I've been doing this for three months and was doing this while I was pregnant although it didn't have a name. I was concerned because I was shocked to find pumpkin so high. I know some might eat this everyday and think it was along the same lines as an apple or cherries which are very low on the GI scale. I'm with you about adjusting your workout schedule to counteract something that may have an adverse affect on your weight. I've been telling people that on this board since I started. Thanks for the advice if it was intended for me but I've never seen this as a "diet" and haven't meant to portray it as that.

I don't think anyone needs to feel apologetic for referring to this plan as a diet. Whether we call it a diet or a way of eating is really just semantics, and even though the plan wasn't created to be a "diet" per se, the name of the book IS The South Beach DIET.
