Hi everyone,

I have a question. I began the SB diet last wednesday....and it just so happens I am also on a fitness program...since last wednesday I have lost 5 pounds...have not felt hungry, pants don't feel looser, and I was surprised when I stepped on the scale at the gym this morning. It just so happened that I had an assesment test this morning....According to the body fat analysis, all 5 of those pounds are lean muscle....not fat. Can someone help?

Thanks,

Michelle

That's correct--my hi-tech electronic scale was confused; I did not lose 8 pounds of muscle in two weeks, although my scale had my body fat as being through the roof! The calipers (measured three times and averaged) showed that my body fat was actually constant--and eventually went down--thoughout Phase 1 and into Phase 2.

Those electronic gismos can only do so much, as is evident by the fact that drinking a lot of water can throw them off. You do lose a lot of water weight in Phase 1. I think you'll find that your body fat percentage goes back to where it was (or better!) in Phase 2.

Your new eating habits--along with your weight-lifting habits--are going to help you build and keep muscle in the long run.
