Ive been on induction (Atkins) for 2 weeks - and have only lost 5 lbs - and Im extremely cranky. I noticed SBD makes more sense to me. I miss my (skim milk in my..) one cup of coffee a day, I agree w/ fat free cheese & bring on the pistachios! BUT how many of you have lost weight on SBD? Im eager to start this WOE but Im curious as to other peoples results. I want to lose 15 lbs but I want to be happy again - is SBD as much torture as Atkins? Im all for torture if I can drop weight but Atkins did not live up to my expectations. Please let me know how much weight you lost on SBD and in what time frame. Thanks!!!!

Hi There,

I'm not a south beach expert by any means (still in phase one), but I agree with Atkins, I tried it for a few days and was really hating it. I was really miserable. This eating plan is much different in that you don't have to painstakingly keep your carbs under 30grams or whatever it was, you just have to stick to the foods on the "Ok" list.

I was wondering the same thing when I started, does it work? And YES it does, the degree to which depends on how vigilant you are with sticking to the right foods. I don't have alot of weight to lose either maybe 10-15lbs-I've lost around 4 so far.

My advice to you is to ditch Atkins and give this plan a shot, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised. Just get creative with the recipes and try to have fun with it (I know its hard when there's no bread involved...)

Hope this helps.

I don't know about Atkins, and I'm not expert on SBD - but I do love this WOE. In about a month I've lost 11 lbs. I don't crave junk food, I don't crave chocolate (a different class of junk food), and I'm not hungry at all. And I'm eating more healthily than I have in my adult life. That, to me, is the measure of a good eating plan.

I'm hoping to be able to dump BP meds as a result of this plan - although recent news articles on personality and heart disease make me wonder if I need a personality transplant along with a new eating plan!

The challenge will be sticking with this over the long term - years, not months.
