3rd day and I am starving what's wrong?
| Thu, 10-23-2003 - 3:12pm |
Today is my 3rd day in P1 and my fiance has about had it with me. I have been so crabby since I started this diet. It only happens when I need to eat, by that time I am so hungry that I can't stand it. I have been on this sight and read just about every post and it seems that I may be the only one on this diet that is starving. What am I doing wrong? I can admit that I had no regard for what I ate before this diet so it's possible that I am going through some sort of withdraw. I have never not eaten sugar... once I eat I am back to normal and usually apologizing to someone for my pre-lunch or pre-dinner behavior. Any advice would be very helpful.
Thank you everyone,
Kari

How long are you waiting to eat?

I will usually have a cheese stick and then some nuts. Have more vegetables with your meal to fill you up. Last night with my "dijon almond" chicken I had a load of cauliflower and I felt so full I wondered how this could possibly be a diet.
Anyway, best of luck to you. Promise your hubby it will get better. Your body is just not quite used to how you're treating it yet....HEALTHY!!!
Maybe it's your portions.

Maybe add a slice of deli turkey or low-salt ham to your cheese stick - roll them together. You could even eat a bit more in the afternoon than pistachios. The problem would be you getting bored with most of the same stuff in the first 2 weeks - but it's just two weeks.
I'm in Phase II, but I'm snacking like in Phase I, except for an apple every couple of days. I've added some of the starchy carbs back in, but only at mealtime (cereal, sweet potatoes, whole-grain bread). It seems to help me keep on track. Even consider eating a dinnertime meal for breakfast to break the monotony of some kind of eggs - many's the morning I've eaten left-over chicken and veggies for breakfast and saved my omelet for dinner.
YOU CAN DO IT! Hang in there, and don't be afraid to eat a little more. Loading up on veggies is a good way to keep your hunger in check. And don't forget your water - sometimes people mistake hunger for thirst.
Good luck!

Don't worry, you are doing great! I know I posted before about how light-headed and dizzy I was the first 2-3 days. I am on day 7 and I feel great. I was complaining to my husband about feeling hungry those first few days, too. It's gotten much better.
I think having to eat so early due to your schedule makes it harder. My husband leaves for work at 7:30, so I've been getting up and making his breakfast to help him with SB. Since I am a SAHM, I have the luxury of waiting to eat, so I just sit and visit with a cup of coffee. I don't actually eat my breakfast until 9:00 after my 8-year old goes off to school. I agree with the other posters that you should definitely add another snack in the morning. Also, don't worry so much about portion size as the book states. Eat until you are comfortable, but not stuffed.
The hardest part for us is the evening, because we always were eating popcorn or ice cream or a late night bowl of cereal (his favorite Cocoa Puffs). We have a new rule not to eat anything after 8:00 pm.
If you are looking for a great meal, check out the roast beef recipe that I just posted under the recipe section. I got it from another SBer, but it was so good that I had to share it. You will definitely feel full after eating this meal. My husband had seconds it was so tasty.
Hang in there! Connie
