Drinking while on SBD

I am now on the 6th day of P1, and I realize that no alcohol is permitted during this time. I am going on vacation in a week. The first day of my vacation will be day 13 of the program. I am sure that we will be drinking, although I have no desire to drink so much that I blow what I have done for the last 2 weeks. The 2 items I like are red wine and dirty vodka martinis, and both I have read have a low glycemic/carb content. Which would be the "lesser of 2 evils?" Thanks for you help!

From SBD Message Board:
"Dr. Agatston says that you may have red wine once you have completed phase 1, but he doesn't specify what type. It is recommended that alcohol be consumed with a meal because on an empty stomach it can turn to sugar (increase blood sugar levels) quickly. This in turn can cause cravings. Consumed with a meal, it can slow down digeston. White and red wine contain resveratrol (the phytochemical linked with heart benefits). Red wine has more resveratrol than white and this is why Dr. Agatston recommends red. Rachel--SBD Nutritionist"
I had a special occasion to attend on day 13 of Phase 1, and I had my first alcoholic beverage in (almost) 2 weeks. I chose a glass of red wine based on Dr./ A's recommendation. Of course, one glass felt like two since I hadn't had any in so long. I nibbled celery and white chicken meat while I had my wine - those were the only things offered that I could eat. I did fine, it didn't affect my diet at all, as far as I could tell.
So I'd drink more red wine than anything else if I were in your situation. Though I'd probably have a dirty martini once or twice and make up for it later. Since it is your vacation, after all - and the GI is low.
Have a great time!
