Anyone else scared of II & III?

I did great on phase I... and eased into phase II quite nicely (still continued to lose)... but now I am starting to become more leinant with myself.. it's scaring me.  I see my tummy puffing out a bit more too, though that could be from all the pumpkin seeds I've consumed in the last 3 days (don't think they digest too quickly)...

I think I need to go back to phase I for a few days just to make myself stop wanting to snack on something.  Or... just be sure to eat something before 10:30am?  (I am no longer hungry first thing in the morning... or decide to wait until AFTER I exercise to eat breakfast).

Is anyone else going through this "not knowing if I'm messing up" feeling?

Hi Susan,

I have lost 12 lbs. so far. I am in Phase 2, but eating mostly P1 foods because I am afraid to add carbs. I have only added oatmeal, 9 grain bread, very little milk. I have only lost 2 lbs. so far on P2, but since I don't have a lot to lose overall, I am not too concerned. I would like to add more carbs, but the carbs I want are the bad ones. I am afraid of messing up at this point. I am finding that I am starting to crave things I shouldn't eat - oreos, donuts, etc. I haven't caved in yet, but I don't like that I am feeling less satisfied after meals. I feel a little bloated (I think its constipation), so I am going to try SF metamucil as suggested to increase the GI of a meal. How are you being more lenient with yourself - eating 'illegal' foods?

I wasn't afraid of P2 and I am not afraid of P3. IMO, eating mostly phase 1 foods will end up boring your taste buds and causing cravings. Try adding some dried fruit or fruit itself just to give your taste bud a kick of fructose. Try addind sugar free syrup to your oatmeal. Get sugar free flavored syrups and add to you coffee, oatmeal, etc. The oatmeal pancakes from the book are awesome!

I know what my problem is with everything. Time change and stress management (or lack there of in this case). I just need to relax and eat on time. For me, living a life of Phase 1 would be too difficult, and I wouldn't have enough energy to work out. Don't be afraid at all. You're doing just fine.

Ria,

I just posted a question in the recipe section that I think you can answer... The pancake recipe in the book calls for oatmeal --- do you cook it first, or use it uncooked??

Thanks!

Uncooked. Runnermom makes these, and she made one for me one morning. YUM! uncooked oatmeal, egg beaters, and cottage cheese! I put a couple of tbs sugar free davinci's and pecans with sugar free syrup and sugar free homeade whipped cream (sometimes) and I got to town! Makes a good lean bacon sandwich too:)

Hi, guys! I too am just easing into Phase II, and I'm being really cautious about what I add back into my food plan. So far, it's flavored oatmeal. I tried some French bread, and I thought it tasted plastic.

I only lost 5 lbs. on Phase I, but I cheated and had a bowl of ice cream every day, and a cup of hot chocolate every morning. I did, however, lose inches across the mid section, so I am satisfied with my results.

If you are constipated, perhaps you are not eating enough veggies? If you like apple juice, it is a natural way to move things along. Even a little glass will help regulate your system.

If you are being hit with "cravings," it indicates you have eaten food with hidden sugars in it. I'd go investigate what you've eaten that has "set you off."

You use it uncooked. Put all ingredients in a blender and than put in a skillet and cook your pancake. Maryann

I don't know why your scaried of Phase 2 and 3, just add carbs.in slowly. I found Phase 2 exciting bring carbs back. You must write a food journal of the foods that you eat.Circle the new carbs that you added back in your menu,if you see that you maintained or losing slower than usual go back to your journal & see who you ate. Then in the next weeks journal leave those carbs out and try a different carb etc. Until you find your balance. You were told in the beginning when starting SBD that you were going to lose less in Phase 2 than you did in Phase one. I wouldn't stay on Phase 1 too long as Its not healthy and you need to get on with you life and eating carbs again.Hope that helps. Hugs Maryann

Love the beach and losing nicely on Phase 2.

Thanks for the tip, Maryanne. I will try the food journal. I think some sugar has been sneaking back into my diet, and this should help.
