I need some info to possibly start sbd

Hi everyone. My name is Monica and I am 26 years old. I am currently sort of on atkins but am thinking about trying the south beach diet. I started this fitness quest back in february 2003 when reality set in that I was huge, 255 lbs. at that time, and I needed to lose weight not only for the health benefits but for my sisters wedding in september which I was the matron of honor, strapless dress, you know how that goes. So I started with, subway, yes, subway diet. It worked for the first few weeks and I did it for almost 2 months but as you can guess it got old and expensive. I never wanted a sandwich for as long as I live so I started low fat/ low cal. which worked as well but I was constantly hungry and even after getting down to only 1000 calories a day with under 20 grams of fat, I stopped losing weight and I was starving! So I tried atkins the first week of july and I was 219 lbs. I have been doing it since and am down to 205, got down to 201, but I gained 4 lbs. in the last few weeks because I feel so restricted. I have been cheating and eating sweets and bread. I know I shouldn't but I have since last friday. I guess I'm losing faith in the atkins way now because it makes me mad to know on that diet, I really can never have sweets or bread, or potatoes, ever and when I do, it takes me out of ketosis and I have to start all over again. So I have been doing some online research on the Southbeach diet and it seems very interesting to me because of after the 2 week phase 1, you can add in the fruit and whole grains, etc.. I like that idea. I miss fruit. As you may know on atkins you generally can't have fruit till you reach your goal and I'm far from that. I feel I need to lose maybe another 35-45 lbs. I was 170 before I got pregnant with my son back in '95 and I was very happy with that weight. Maybe when I reach that I may want to lose more to get to 150 but I'm not sure. I am 5'6'' and have a large frame so 150 is very ideal for me. I also excercise 4-5 times a week, walk away the lbs 2 mile. Sorry this is so long but my question is although I know I need to book to truly answer my questions, do you think the transition from atkins to sb would be hard for me? I see that I can't use real butter anymore or real cheese, just lowfat ones and can I still eat regular bacon and sausage for breakfast or does it have to be canadian bacon/turkey bacon that I have read on different sites? Any input you guys have will be great and I am seriously thinking about getting the book this weekend and seeing if I can do this. Thanks for you help.
Monica

There are a few sites that have food lists --- Prevention magazine has one and another one is hippodamia.com. This should answer some of your questions on what you should/shouldn't eat. I have been eating turkey bacon for years so just kept up with that when I want to have some bacon.
I don't think the transition should be hard --- you take away some of the fat and add back in good for you carbs, so it should not be too bad.
Good luck, hope to see ya post here.
