I have been getting frustrated with the same three pounds creeping on and off, so I started exercising at Curves, hoping to bump up the metabolism. I got curious about their diet and have been reading the book for two days. It seems that according to the author's quiz, I am NOT carb-sensitive--I am calorie-sensitive! What this means is that the unlimited protein on this diet can prevent someone with my metabolism from losing weight. So, I checked out their calorie-sensitive plan, and it is still high protein and fairly low-carb, but not unlimited protein. I am trying it for a few weeks. It is actually very similar to SBD in terms of food choices, but portion control is greater, which I am hoping will unlock the door to weight loss for me.
Can I still post here? I would never bash SBD, nor will I advise people to do something different. SBD got me off white flour and sugar and taught me a lot of new things about nutrition, and you beachers are a wonderful supportive group! I just need to tweak this to get it working on my metabolism.
I welcome feedback, and thanks for listening to me.

I was just curious --- has staying away from the sf chocolate helped your stomach issues at all?
Good luck
Ellen
Thank you... I'm not sure what to do at the moment.
Probably, I am going to end up doing some hybrid of the two programs.
Yes, my stomach feels a whole lot better without the chocolate!
Hope you are doing well.

Kimmie,
I don't[ see why you shouldn't keep posting here. Dr. A's comments in the book are very supportive of making this way of eating work for you. It sounds like you are still following the same general plan, with a few modifications to make things work for you. Others on this board have expressed concern over certain parts of the diet not working for them. Perhaps if you keep to the principles--yet incorporate new things--this will work better for you, and you can share (and possibly help support) others.

Hey guess what I have learned about myself in two days of following Curves Phase I... I was eating a lot more carbs than I realized. This plan makes you count'em. A lot of the stuff I thought was low-carb is really not that low. I am feeling much better. I am still eating "South Beach food" but counting calories and carbs and eating a little less. It is true that you can feel much more satisfied on a low-cal diet if those calories are mostly protein rather than carb. I went to Curves today and did my workout. It is a great motivator.
Hugs,
Kimmie
Glad to hear this is working for you, Kimmie! Curves is very popular around here (I'm not a member, but many of my coworkers are). I recently heard someone talking about how she knew a woman who had an investment opportunity early on, but chose not to invest, thinking there were just too many gyms and diet organizations already out there. That person is now shooting herself (figuratively, of course) for that decision!
Keep posting your progress!
