Thinking of trying SBD w/some questions

Hi. I am currently doing the WW points plan, but I find that I am allowed too many choices, and I make bad ones. I eat white bread because it has the same point value as whole grain or any of the healthier varieties. Plus I can eat a chocolate chip cookie or two for a few points, but if I eat one or two, I eat seven or eight. I think the SBD might work for me. I think Atkins has too much fat, and I want my veggies. I have a few questions: 1. Why no caffeine? Is it weight loss related or health related? 2. One site says no carrots and another says carrots are okay in moderation. I love snacking on carrots. Are they allowed in P1 or P2? 3. Is tomato juice or V8 limited to a certain # of ounces? 4. I am assuming this would be good for my husband's high cholesterol, am I right? He did not support WW. 5. (finally) What do you all drink all day? Mostly water? Anything else?

1. Why no caffeine? Is it weight loss related or health related? Caffeine isn't an absolute no-no on SBD.

I joined SBD for the same reasons you are thinking of joining. I did not have a lot to lose, about 10 pounds. I like my sweets and carbs. On WW I could stick to the points but still eat the wrong food. The thing is, I KNOW what is good and what is not and I needed a bit of a nudge to push me into making the right choices again. My husband wanted to do something with me, and needed strict guidelines. We both wanted foods we like, foods we eat regularly and something that would fit into our lifestyles. (He's in Med sales and I am a busy mom of two young kids.) SBD was and is perfect.
I thought Phase 1 was tough. I stuck to it with the exception of adding a piece of fruit daily -- and still lost 5 lbs week 1, 1 lb, in week 2 and another this week. I also cheated twice as I had gone out to dinner and had wine on both occasions. I also had a (shhh!!!) few pieces of candy on Halloween. My dh stuck to it rigidly and lost 12 lbs.
In Phase 2, I am allowed to eat ww bread, etc... but I find I just don't want it. I am happy to add light yogurts and more fruit and sugar free pudding! I feel totally flexible and have no desire to eat in any other way. We eat healthy portions of veggies -- tons of veggies, salads, fish, chicken and some red meat.
Carrots are OK in Phase 2, in moderation. (Though I have snacked on a few myself.)
Caffeine is limited because it can cause hunger and it can also increase insulin levels. I still have 2 or 3 cups of morning coffee, I use half caf and half decaf. I also drink diet sodas and iced teas... they also have kept me going.
V8 Juice is limited to 6 ounces a day.
