Any person of average weight happy?

Hello! I am a 26 year old female who is frustrated with her body. I feel I should be in my prime now in terms of my appearance since I have no kids etc. Now I am not an overweight person, but I do tend to bulk up and do not fit the 5 pounds for every inch over 5 feet requirement - 5'7 - 145. I exercise a couple of days a week. I ran a marathon 2 years ago and produced a time a little over 4 hours so a 9:20 pace, thus I am active, but have sonme muscle. Now I have that layer of fat over the muscle that will not go away. At that time I slimmed down some, but not as much as you would think considering you run 30-45 miles a week and my pre-marathon weight was never what it is now by about 7 pounds. Now as I commit to a new eating lifestyle I question whether or not I will weigh less or if my measurements will go down seeing that even training for a marathon my weight did not change that much. Some persons have said the people who lose 8-13 pounds in the first two weeks - lose it in their waist and are bigger people by nature. Are there any in-betweens out there who are happy and the program has worked for?I wonder whether or not people lose muscle on this program as well as fat. Has anyone encountered the same issues or frustrations.

I am not a large person by nature. I am 10 years older than you are and am fitter and thinner than I was 10 years ago. So much for the slowing metabolism issue. That said, I think that this is the perfect plan for you, for anyone. I started at 120 (I am 5'4") and wanted to lose a few pounds. I lost 5 pounds the first week (even cheating by going out to dinner and having some wine!) and another pound last week with Halloween (cheated again!) and another pound this week -- and am going out tonight! I have lost a lot around my middle and now I see my hips shrinking too. Yipee yahoo.

I am ordinarily against fad diets, Atkins, WW, etc... but this is not a diet and really is a map showing you how to eat the right foods for the rest of your life. Except for the first two weeks which were really tough, I do not feel deprived or hungry or even as though I am on a diet.

Hope this helps!

Jessica,

I am 34 and am 5'4 ,120. I am in good shape and work out pretty hard core at least 5 days a week. I am considering the SB Diet but I don't know if I can eat eggs every morning for two weeks. (I associate breakfast with sweet foods (peanut butter and wheat toast, kashi cereal and yogurt, etc) I have lost weight on the Michel Montignac diet a couple years ago, which is loosely based on SB Diet. I love my carbs and although I keep them complex and balanced with healthy fats (to keep the glycemic index down, I am wary that I would be satisfied on this diet. Can you post a sample day from your past week's impressive loss?

Thanks in advance,

Melissa

Just call me "Josephine Average."

I hadn't heard that 5 pounds for every inch over 5' guideline before. I'm fairly small boned--if you go by the guideline that I can easily connect my pinkie and thumb at the wrist--but definitely not petite. I am about 5' 5 1/2", which means I'd weigh around 125-130 for an ideal weight by the formula you provided. I currently hover around 130 pounds, and I am comfortable with that. Before I started this way of eating, I was 145-150 when eating too much fast food and 140-145 when eating "healthy" stuff. I think the 125-130 range is more comfortable for me, not to mention that I fit into my clothes at this weight, whereas, I need a bigger size for the hips and buttocks for the other range. THEREFORE, I would classify myself as "average weight" and happy on the SBD.

Hi! It seems as if you and me are in the same boat. I am also 26, though will be 27 in another week. Am also 5'7". And also struggling to remove this padding from my hard earned muscle! I run and strenth train several times a week. I am a mediam to large frame and I gain muscle rather easily, which I don't mind. So I am going to try SBD to help me get a tighter reign on my eating habits in hopes of trimming up a bit. I weight 150 right now, but I feel best at a range of 137-140ish. Anyway I feel you pain. Hopefully this SBD will be just what both of us are looking for :)
