Hi everyone. I'm a little upset with myself. I did EXCELLENT all week (this has been my first week on SBD). Today I was VERY busy all day and did not get to eat until around 6:30 p.m. (I hadn't eaten since breakfast). I ate a few things I should not have eaten (I grabbed some chex mix) because I did not have time to fix anything. I feel horrible now. Has anyone messed up in the first week and still lost weight? THANKS!

Hi Siddy:

During my first week on the plan, I was traveling. I had chosen to do Phase 2 because I knew it was going to be too difficult to stick to Phase 1 while away, and then started Phase 1 when I returned. Anyway, there were quite a few times while I was gone that I just couldn't stick to the plan for whatever reason, and I was afraid to look at the scale when I came home. However, I weighed in the next day and I still lost a pound that week (which doesn't sound like much, but that is in the target range for Phase 2). Since then, I've gone on Phase 1, and I cheated this morning and peeked at the scale even though I'm not supposed to weigh in until Sunday, and I've lost 5 pounds this week already.

So don't sweat it, remember that the book even says that we will not always be perfect, and as long as you understand what whatever you ate is doing to your body (I have a big weakness for Chex mix myself!), you can go back and fix it. My savior when it comes to snacking has been sugarfree Extra gum...I chew a piece whenever I have the urge to eat something I shouldn't, and promise myself that I can have a little piece when the flavor of the gum is gone if I still want it. Usually, the craving goes away, and if it doesn't, then I have a very small piece just for the taste of it.

Hi siddy1,

I started P1 on Saturday and did really well my first couple of days and peeked at the scale and had lost 3 pounds in 2 days! Then on Day 4 I also peeked at the scale and had gained a pound and a half back!!! That night I had a craving for ice cream and ended up eating some nuts to try to kill the craving but ended up eating the ice cream after all. I was beating myself up the next morning but got back on track. As of this morning (Day 7), I am down 3.5 pounds. The important thing when you slip is not to let yourself get too down about it...we're human. I've been sticking to everything very well since my slip and have been rewarded for it. So, get back on track and you'll be fine!!
