Thanks for the info on the difference between whole wheat and whole grain. I still think that whole wheat is better than enriched flour, but I do see where you are coming from. After reading the other links, I see that whole grain uses more energy to digest and is probably the best choice of all for people who don't have difficulty digesting such large particles.

You are right is saying that everyone doesn't have to

I'll see what I can find. I have been looking, but I haven't found anything yet. Hmmmmm... I am taking a shot in the dark, and if it is wrong, I am sure I will hear about it from someone, but honey in it's purest form is natural, right?

beachgirl, I don't live by the book. I wouldn't call myself a purist or a tweaker. I call it my WOE. It's all mine. I eat how I want, I am healthier for it, and I eat what I want... oh yeah. I already said that. lol. Quoting things from the book are great, but people's experiences are worth a lot as well. Combined, this WOE rocks! take care!

Thought I'd jump in here with another place that is catering more to low-carb dieters (and no, I don't mean KFC, which is running an ad stating that their chicken is low-carb) is Don Pablo's. I don't know how widespread they are, but they have low-carb fajitas. You can get chicken, steak, or shrimp with lettuce wraps. I had it last week, and it was really good!

Hmmm...I don't think we have Don Pablo's here. Does anyone else have Del Taco? Other than the flour tortillas, do you see anything else that makes their soft tacos and

Hi Catherine, and everyone...

I thought I'd jump in about tortillas. We don't have either of those chains in Connecticut, but I wanted to share what I do in any Mexican restaurant. Whenever possible, I choose the soft corn, instead of flour, tortillas for fajitas. I have not looked up the glycemic indexes of either, but I feel they are a better choice for two reasons: 1. the corn looks more "grainy" than the very white, refined flour tortilla, and 2. the corn tortillas are usually thinner, and thus seem less packed with carbs in general. Even if the corn tortillas aren't any better glycemic-wise, they seem to just be less food.

What do you all think? Anyway, once I went to a place where they didn't have soft corn tortillas, so I ate just one of the flour tortillas, and just used a fork to eat the rest of the fajita meat and veggies. (I figure since Dr. A. lists white flour in the "avoid or eat rarely" category, once in a while I can indulge. And so far it has only been once.)

What do you think about corn vs. flour tortillas? Would love feedback. Anyway, I should probably go look up the nutritional info, and maybe I will look at packages of them next time I go to the store.

Well, sorry so long... just wanted to pass my thoughts along.

I have always opted for the corn tortillas also. They just seem more wholesome. I am curious to know what the rest of you guys think.

Yes! I would stay away from the wheat breads unless you know that they are truly whole wheat and not white disguised as whole wheat! Also, with those honey wheat breads, the sugar levels are very high!

I bought the Arnold's low carb bread and it's white bread in disguise! So disappointed. The texture is not right either. Will stick to regular whole wheat and whole grain breads. For a few extra carbs, the taste and texture are not worth sacrificing!

Jessica - Don't give up on the Arnold breads altogether! The HealthNut and MultiGrain varieties are well-textured, high-fiber/low-sugar-per-slice options. And the slices are large enough to satisfy you even if all you eat is a 1/2-sandwich or one slice with PB on it.

No, I don't own stock in Arnold's .. Just want a good product to get its due....

Ria, yes, pure honey is natural, comes straight out of nature.
