Chubby Buddies Needed

I'm new to SBD... this is my first week. I need to lose about 60-65lbs. (a lot) and am looking for others to make friends with, send support, and share recipes with. I love cooking and I'm an avid exerciser. However, I was having trouble losing weight from exercise alone. I decided to give SBD a try and hope it will change my WOE and my life. Are there any diet tips that anyone can offer? I've had no problem giving up rice, pasta, bread, and potatoes. But goodness I sure do miss my sweets and pastries. I've followed phase one exactly and can't wait to go to phase two so I can have milk and fruit again.
Has anyone lost a lot of weight on this diet? I'm a little worried about the no calorie restriction... I've been eating only good carbs and no sugar. I hope that even without the calorie counting this diet will still work. I eat until I'm satisfied but should I watch my portions more carefully? Can anyone recommend a good salad dressing? I don't like vinagrettes very much. Thanks for any advice possible.

Hi everybody, I need to join too
Heather
Congrats on the 5 pound loss!! That's great. Our weight loss goals are similar... mine is 83. Please don't feel obligated to respond to this. I understand that you are busy. Just wanted to give you the kudos you deserve!!
Keep it up! Hugs,

Congrats on the great start!! I'm doing the same thing as you are in breaking down the entire weight loss into smaller goals. It's helped me to not be so overwhelmed. I started SB at 228, and some of the goals I've reached: 204 - BMI < 30 (no longer medically obese), 199 (under 200 for the first time in years!), and now my next one is 188. That number is my former "all-time high", that I had reached sometime in 93/94 before I went on to lose a lot of weight. And I *swore* I'd never let myself get that big again. But I did. In 2000, I hit 242!
Keep up the good work. If P1 starts to get to you, just keep repeating "It's just for two weeks." That mantra kept me on track.
Hugs,
Jill K.

I had great success with the diet the first week. I lost 8 lbs...but am very overweight also. The next couple of weeks were a little slower 1-2 lbs. but it was steady. Unfortunately, I blew it for about 10 days when the holidays hit. I'm weighing tomorrow. It will not be a good day. Two days ago, I started back on phase 1. For a phase 1 salad dressing, I use cottage cheese, peel and seed half a cucumber (or buy a hot house one), add garlic cloves and add chives or whatever herbs feel like. I put it in my mini-food processor and voila! You can also add some chopped fresh jalapenos or even canned green chilies if you want to spice it up. On the other phases you can use yogurt, that's what I normally use. I have also used roasted red peppers (roast them youself or buy them in a jar or can packed in WATER not OIL). It is a great dip for vegetables for the holidays! Serve it in a red or green pepper that has been hollowed out. Good luck!
Congrats on the loose pants!! Feels great, doesn't it? I just wanted to let you know that I've been struggling for years with depression, too. I used to have more issues with anxiety, but when my mom died in 96 after a year-long battle with cancer, then my dad was diagnosed with incurable leukemia months after, I really went downward into depression. I went from underweight to overweight in no time, and I kept medicating myself with food more and more as my dad got sicker and had several more cancer diagnoses. I was his caregiver until he died in 2000 and food was my buddy during that time.
It's all too easy to medicate with food, isn't it? I'm so very glad that you are on meds and doing well. I had a lot of shame about my weight, too. I almost didn't go to Spain to study for a semester just because I was so overweight. I'm glad I went in spite of those feelings, because it was an awesome experience. And even though I felt like an Amazon (5'9", 230s) in a sea of tiny skinny people (think Penelope Cruz, Spaniard), I was OK. LOL.
I hope you can start to give yourself a break and start to let the shame go. It's hard, but you and your kids deserve it.
Hugs, and warm welcome,
Jill K.

This is the first time since I have been married (9 years on New Years Eve) that I have stuck to a diet. I weighted about 150 when we were married. I'm not unrealistic that I would get there again but 165 sounds great.
Have a great weekend everyone TGIF!

Hi Angel!
I can tell you that after about a week and a half you will no longer be worried about counting calories because you won't be finding yourself as hungry as you were before.
Susan :)
