Offended? Sorry if you have been...

It has just come to my attention that some members of this board consider my posts to be rude and the think I come across as if I know it all. I wanted to apologize to anyone who has been offended by my posts. That is not at all what I have ever meant. When I suggest something, I'm just trying to be helpful. If it is not helpful to you, then ignore my suggestion. I certainly don't live in anyone else's body or anyone else's lifestyle, and I can't speak for anyone else.
I sometimes post tongue-in-cheek (like about California cheese) and I thought the LOL emoticon I used at the top made that clear...maybe not. I also post a lot of 2 cents posts, and again, I thought the 2 cents emoticon made that clear.
I do agree that this board needs more than one cl-. I applied, but was ignored (maybe the CM's thought I came across as a know-it-all, too, I don't know. I do feel strongly, though, that this is too busy of a borad for one cl-, and that others could also help out. If you are interested, I do encourage you to apply to ivillage--and I certainly am only saying this to be helpful. There are definitely some members that I think would make great cl-s for this board.

I have to agree with the others.
I'm sorry that you're feeling hurt. I just wanted to let you know that I find you refreshingly direct, but I've never found you to be offensive. I really appreciate you and your contributions to this great board. Truth is, I wish I had more time to post and get involved here, and you are one of the reasons why.
Hugs,

I am pretty new to the board and have posted only occasionally, so I didn't see the post(s) that might have been offensive. I've always considered your posts I've seen to be very helpful.

As far as being a "purist," I have a feeling Dr. Agatston is more flexible than some of his followers are. He wrote the book as a guideline, not as the new "Bible." If there are ways to help make it easier for people follow and stick with, who cares if it says Atkins on the "formula" or some other program. As long as the principles and goal are the same that's what counts.

I really get where you are coming from, but I would hate for people not to be able to talk about how they tweak SB for themselves. I do think that when we tell others of such "tweaking", we have the responsibility even obligation to state it as such. For example, I've shared quite a bit here about eating Atkins ice cream cups, and CarboRite chocolate, but I also make it clear that these are *not* a part of the plan.
I really do believe that Dr. Agatston is a realist, and knows that we aren't always going to follow this plan 100%. If he weren't, he'd never have included all the letters from people who say that once in a while they go out and indulge in a big plate of pasta, or have written about the man who made so many other changes to his diet, but refused to give up real ice cream. Is it better to follow the plan 100%? Of course. But if you can't, isn't 95% or even 80% compliance better than nothing?
Again, I do think we need to be upfront, especially to newcomers, whenever the particular piece of information we are sharing is off plan, but I don't really have a problem with people actually sharing such information. It just needs to be qualified as what it is.
JMO,
Hugs and support to all...

Anecdotal information from personal experience is extremely helpful and can give people ideas about what to expect, what's realistic, what not to expect, cautions, etc. As long as it is made clear that something is an opinion or that something is fact, I look forward to seeing both.
My main point, as a newbie to South Beach Diet and to this board (about 3 weeks on this board, and Phase 1- day 14 on the plan), is that very often personal opinions aren't posted clearly as such, and sifting through the information here
