Big discrepancy in P.B. info!

In the Phase I enhanced foods list that I took off of Prevention.com and have been spreading all over the board, it says that a serving size of natural peanut butter is 1 teaspoon.  (I haven't been eating P.B., so have kind of ignored that one, personally.)

Then, from the official SBD.com site, I got the Daily Dish today (via email), stating that a serving size of peanut butter on SBD is 2 Tablespoons.   BIG difference!!

Nuts, Nuts, and Even More Nuts

Nuts are a healthy snack, yet not all nuts are created equal. Here are the suggested serving sizes for everyone's favorite nuts:

  • Almonds - 15 whole (dry-roasted recommended)
  • Brazil nuts - 4 whole
  • Cashews - 15 whole (dry-roasted recommended}
  • Pecans - 15 whole (dry-roasted recommended}
  • Macadamia - 8 whole (dry-roasted recommended)}
  • Natural peanut butter, chunky or smooth - 2 tablespoons
  • Other natural nut butters - 2 tablespoons
  • Peanuts - 20 small (may use dry-roasted or boiled)
  • Pine nuts (Pignoli) - 1 ounce
  • Pistachios - 30 whole (dry-roasted recommended}
  • Walnuts - 15 whole (dry-roasted recommended)

If nuts aren't your thing, then try a snack of up to 3 tablespoons of toasted flax seed, or up to 1 ounce of sunflower or pumpkin seeds.

Since the latest info (just above) is directly from the official web site, I'm inclined to believe the latter is the right answer, and that the Prevention.com list p.b. info, submitted by somebody on that board, was a typo????

What do you all think?  I think that 2 Tablespoons makes more sense.  Let me know the general concensus and I'll correct the enhanced list that I post.

I think it might be 1 tsp of regular pb (skippy, peter pan) and the SBD website says 2 tbsp of Natural PB. That could be the difference.

I don't know...

I know we're SUPPOSED to count nuts and measure peanut butter, but personally, I just eat it and go on.

I'm pretty sure I remember the book saying 2 TBSP. But, I don't count either. I figure eating a few extra nuts is better than eating an Almond Joy!

The book says one tbls but hey, as long as you aren't eating straight out of the jar through the day, I think we all know how to be reasonable with peanut butter.

Technicalities can drive anyone crazy...

I Agree!

If i'm going to be doing this WOE for life, I don't think that measuring everything forever is going to work. BUT I've measured everything for about 2 months until I learned how to eyeball it :)

I brought my book in today, found that on pg. 126, the P1 "foods to enjoy" list, it says 1 tsp. of peanut butter.

Yes, the book lists a PB serving as 1 tsp. Two tablespoons worth is SIX times more than a teaspoon - a vast difference. In any case, you certainly wouldn't want to use the non-natural kind because of the sugar and the bad fats.

I'm going to stick with 1 tsp. serving size since that is what the book says.

Another 2 cents' worth on PB:

One teaspoon of PB fits neatly into 1/2 a rib of celery (6 - 8 inch long piece).
