Board Layout: Feedback Encouraged

(Note: This was originally posted under "Feeling VERY Discouraged (sigh)", but I'm changing the heading to perhaps get some feedback from others who post here, regularly or not.)

Maybe the first thing new people need to see is the "Intros" section...move it to the top, then "General Discussion"?

A few other ideas: Get rid of the Phase 3 section (OK, I see the good in the Phase 1 and 2 sections, but do we really need a Phase 3 section?), and replace it with a "Stalled...Help!" section? Change the "What's new..." section to "Exercise," since that's how we seem to be using it, anyway?

Thoughts, anyone?

Personally, I don't really care how it's set up as long as there's less sections. I don't look past general discussions much because that is where most of the info seems to be. I don't see the need for an intro section since most intros are done in General Discussion.

General discussions can be used to discuss anything from you aggrivations with work to a general question regarding the plan to an introduction of yourself.

Phase one and two for people who want to form their own support groups.

Success Stories

What's new in diet and fitness...i think that is a required heading as i see it on the fitness and diet boards.

I like the setup you've described, Alison. Simplify! I rarely look past General Discussion either.

If I were leader for a day, here's how I would want to set things up....

General Comments
Intros would go here too, and I would do roll calls every few weeks; but do "Newbies roll calls" every week, asking them to please tell us how they are doing and to ask anything they want help with.

I agree this has to be simpler, because of lack of time which everyone has, I think pretty much everyone gets to the general discussion and then moves onto their own phase.

I know I don't look as much in intro or Phase 1 and there may be some very good info or questions there.

How about:

General Discussion --

Questions

Successes/Setbacks

Exercise/Recipes

Whats new (I also believe it is required as I have seen it on most other boards

I like those ideas Catherine, but I feel we still need the phase 3 folder also as it is part of the program just as much as Phase 1 & 2 are. This is the maintance section where lifetimers eatting needs are to be addressed. What happens on the WOE for life, once someone gets there, remember losing is easy but how hard is it to maintain and how we found our balance to maintain without gaining. My 2 cents Maryann

I'm a fan of sections, because when I need something in particular, I know where to look.

Yes, that's a good idea. What I would really like to see in improvement to this board is when looking at a post, you don't have to click on every reply....it takes soooo long to go through all of them. It would be nice if you could click on that post and the other replies be visable(like other boards are). This is my favorite board, except for that. Unless you have a lot of time to read each reply to a post, you miss out.

Minihorse, are you usign the free version of ivillage or the Express Yourself enhanced version? If you are using the enhanced version, you should be able to view up to 20 posts at a time. If you can't (while using the enhanced version), then check your board settings. Also, you can view a few words of each post by clicking on outline form in the header of each page.

Hope this is helpful!

The only board I've looked at here in the Diet & Fitness channel has been this one (I'm a CL on the Relationships channel).
