All right, I confess. I am a Slave to the Scale (S2 for short). Here's how bad it is:

I weigh myself every single morning, first thing. I only officially record it twice a week (Wednesday and Sunday), but I ALWAYS look. And, yeah, I've been known to sneak a peek later in the day sometimes.

Here's why: I'm from a wrestling family, and the boys weigh themselves up to four times a day in season on the official scale which measures to the nearest tenth of a pound. So once a day feels almost conservative to me :-) And, I just love the fact that now I weigh less in the middle of the day with all my clothes on than when I started, first thing in the morning with no clothes. I need that little boost sometimes.

So, ladies and gentlemen, I want confessions. How many other S2's are out there? How many other people are trying to rationalize this anti-SBD behavior like me? :-) Let's all 'fess up and band together. Forget about locking up our scales, the S2's are coming out of the closet!

I must confess! I too am a slave to the scale. It keeps me focused on why I am doing this. It helps me understand my body fluctuations. Sometimes it's up just because of salt intake or TOM. But the more you understand your body the more in control you will be. Also, If I have a cheat here and another cheat there, the scale will let me know. If I don't weigh every day I rationalize in my mind that I will lose it by weigh-in. I almost feel it's a denial that you don't have to answer to until sometime in the future. It just keeps me honest.

Here's my confession:

I weight myself several times a week, in the mornings, after coffee but before breakfast.

Here's the catch: I only weigh myself on the mornings that I wake up feeling thin. If I feel chunky (maybe from over-indulging or too much wine the night before) I skip the morning weigh-in and just make sure to eat well and drink a lot of water.

I hate disappointment. ;-)

Staci,

Oooooh, I like your system, I may have to borrow that! Today was an official weigh-in day, and I knew it wouldn't be good news since I went out to lunch yesterday with my family and did reeaally well right up until the slice of peanut butter cup pie arrived on the table, and I cheated and split a piece with my brother. But, tiny success, I did split it and did not get a whole piece for myself! Anyway, the damage was less than I expected this morning but still disappointing. If I had read this post yesterday, I probably would have pushed off weighing in until tomorrow :-)
