Brand new to loose a few

Hi everyone.

Well, I've started. I'm brand new to this diet but hearing the success stories has me ready and rearing to go. This is day one. I have a few questions. I know I need to exercise to stay healthy, but how important is it to loose weight on this diet? I stay pretty active, but if i don't get to the gym one day, is all lost? Also, I'm scared about eating so much cheese. It was always a forbidden food before this diet, but now I'm supposed to eat it, and a lot of it. What do you all think?? Thanks!

No, your cause isn't lost if you miss a day at the gym. I haven't noticed any major effect on my weight loss effort, and I work out 5-6 days a week (including strength training at least twice a week). Exercise is important to your overall health, though, and weight training may give you a boost. We all react differently.

If you stick with the low- or reduced-fat cheeses, you should be ok. String cheese is probably the safest one - it comes in nice, handy, walk-away portions, it's is easily portable in a handbag, and it doesn't get gooey if your means of refrigeration is nothing more than an icepack in an insulated lunchbag.

Good luck!
