hola all,

2 yrs ago i tried the atkins diet because i found out i was diabetic w/WAY high blood sugar. i have learned w/diabetes that the least amount of carbs is a good thing for me, granted i haven't read the SBD book yet, i am just asking a question.

if SBD is not a Low Carb diet, how does it help w/type 2 Diabetes.. anybody on the same boat as me?

It's not low carb but choosing the right carbs and right fats. I know it's not the same, but was diagnosed with gestational diabetes the last 3 months of my pregnancy and was unofficially put on SBD. I say unofficially because the name wasn't well known at the time and did have to count carbs. Using the principles of Dr. A and spacing my carbs out through the day, I was able to manage the blood sugar through diet and walking. I know I'm at a higher risk for Type 2 diabetes so I'm viewing the gestational diabetes experience as a blessing in disguise (hey it halted my weight gain at 30 pounds) and a wake up call for me!

Good luck and I hope this helps,

Alison

Hi, Jonnie!

The simple answer is that this is a low-glycemic way of eating.

I am a type 2 diabetic and have been on gi diet for months. I decided 20 days ago to try SBD and see want it was all about. I am on 4 needles and 3 metformin day. My sugars have been in the range of 4.9 to 7.1 was has been excellent for me. I am enjoying this lifestyle change i have to go back to my diabetic doctor in December for my 3 month report. I am staying on phase 1 for the max of 4 weeks to see how things go. In 20 days i have lost 7.25 lbs, which i am extremely happy
