Hi...I am new here...I have been on atkins for the past week and a half and then I started reading about the south beach diet and think it may be more realistic.  Anyone have any advice or comment on this?  I need to lose 50 pounds.  I am willing to make a lifestyle change too.  I just feel like some parts of Atkins are unhealthy.  Thanks in advance for the input.

Hi Zoe's mommy!

I'm relatively new to SBD as well - after being a devoted follower of Atkins and Fat Flush for awhile. The only problems I encountered were the fear of "combining" inappropriately - for example, we can have certain beans here - but not on Atkins - or that we can have half and half or cream on Atkins P1 - but not here. Or the fact that Atkins had so many "quick fixes" - like the bars and shakes, while SBD relies on natural healthy foods to calm the cravings. SBD seems the healthy alternative to all these diets! Little things that drove me crazy. Anyway, best of luck with whatever plan you choose! Hope this helps.

In P1, you can have a splash of Fat Free Half and Half in your coffee. I used it in the Cauliflower Mash. In phase 2, you can reintroduce as you wish.
