My problem is I need a bit more info. She isn't a close friend and I feel a bit uncomfortable prying and asking a bunch of questions. I visited the website and found it a bit confusing (Ithink they just want you to buy the book) :)
Well, I am 26 years old and I have 2 small kids (3&1). I am 175 lbs. and I need to be at about 130. After having kids, things just went downhill - ya know what I mean? Well, I was wondering if someone could give me a few pointers in what this is all about. I tried Atkins and felt extremley sluggish. Plus, having to prepare different meals for 2 small children and my husband also made it difficult.
I'm hoping I kind find a kind person to help me out. I know this is a lot to ask. I'm looking for a support system to get through this. I'm tired of feeling like this. Today my daughter asked me if we were having another baby. Doesn't that just make you feel great?? :( :( Thanks in advance!! Angie

I have been on the Beach since 9/14 and have dropped 18 lbs.. I too am a mom of two, twin girls (22 months old). Post pregnancy weight crept up on me...before I knew it I was longing for the days when I could fit in my husbands jeans. BUY THE BOOK! The diet is pretty simple and my kids LOVE the food. How many times have you heard a 20 month old ask for more mushrooms? (She loves the spinach stuffed ones...her sister loves the ricotta cremes...and my husband doesn't like the diet, but he has lost 5 pounds just because I'm not feeding him all that junk anymore) One thing I really like about SBD is that the meals are realistic (for the most part) and simple to prepare. Phase I is meat, salad, cheese and nuts...a little monotonous but an awesome sense of accomplishment when you can walk by a cake or candy bar and not give it a second look. Phase II is a little confusing still and I've been in it for 6 weeks; slowly add in some good carbs (fruits, whole grains, oatmeal) and see what your body is comfortable with. You really should buy or borrow the book for better details.-- Hope this helps a little, K 180/162/160
There are a lot of kind people here who would love to help you out :)!!!!!
As a start, go to hippodamia.com where they have the foods for each of the Phases
and a shopping list along with recipes and such.
Actually, I belong to the official SBD web site and really enjoy it, there is a lot of good information and support on the web site also --- but thats just my opinion.
Phase 1 is the hardest phase as you are detoxing your body from carbohydrate overload.
I find that it seems that a good many people who are sluggish on Atkins will be sluggish on Phase 1 of SBD also, the good news is though that Phase 1 is only 2 weeks. After you start adding back in good carbohydrates and you perk right up. That is what happened to me. Other people do not have any problem at all.
The nice thing about SBD is you can cook a balanced dinner for your family and just leave off your plate what you should not be eating according to what Phase you are in.
Also, look at the post on this board FAQS --- it is here under the general discussion.
Welcome and good luck and let us know if you have any additional ?'s

Welcome to the Beach!
Here's a link the our own FAQ posts, where you'll find a lot of helpful info and links to other helpful sites:

Also, don't forget the links at the top of the main SBD message obard page. One contains excerpts from the first two chapters of the original book (I hear we're on the 2nd ed. now).
Hope this is helpful to you!
