Sorry, I just have so many questions on this diet! Anyone know legal "chinese food" to eat? I am having dinner at a friend's house tonight, and they decided to order chinese out. I don't want to be difficult... but I need to know a couple of dishes that I can eat safely! HELP!?!? Also, thanks to everyone answering my question's. You guys are so helpful, this is a great support system!

Don't forget that the further you get into phase 2 and then to phase 3, you can pick and choose what you would likeas long as it works for you.

Ga girl,

You are very "by the book" almost to the point where your notes do not seem to leave room for mistakes. I was just curious how you handled things when you decided to go off the food list and try something not listed. Or do you? I do not mean any disrespect to you.

I have been reading your posts where the information is directly from the book or the daily dish site, but I rarely see any information of personal experience. Again, I don't mean any disrecpect. No one here is an expert on the SBD. Reading the transcripts you have posted or copied and reading on my own, it seems as though Dr. A isn't even an expert, but he knows what works for him, and he knows how a typical human body reacts to different foods and the GI. IMO, WOE such as this work because people find out how their own body works with food and exercise (or lack there of whichever is preferred.)

I try very had to not come off as "preachy" and reminding that the items I eat and how I chose to follow this WOE works for me.

Again, I don't mean any disrespect. I don't know you. Just curious.

Ria

Yeah, on poultry, I thought that breasts and wings were white meat and legs (drumsticks) and thighs were dark meat?

The wings are white meat, but the debate is still going on weather they are too fatty or not. On phase 1, they are not considered legal, but depending on how your interpret, they could easily be added back in Phase 2 or Phase 3 depending on where you wanted to stick them. It's all in your preference. Have a good weekend.

If you felt I was being "bossy" then that is your opinion which you stated in your last note was all right because it was an opinion.

I had a very valid question because I was curious. I wasn't being critical at all, but that is how you took my curiosity. Before you came to the boards, we rarely had anyone quoting LONG passages from the book to answer a question, or posting a link to a thread or article or posting the full daily dish. We usually just answered the question the best to our knowledge or pointed them in the right direction. Seeing your blue fish everywhere has taken some getting used to for me and others over the last few weeks, but you're here to stay and doing well. I read your posts on occassion, and as I stated before, my interpretation of your posts seems to be very "by the book." My curiosity got me, and I asked the questions in the previous note.

The WOE for me started as "by the book," and by the time I was in phase 2 and adding things, I am almost to my first goal weight. I am doing a P2.5 so my choices are a little more out there than the average Beacher. However, I see the SBD book not as gospel, but as a guideline. Anyone on this board engaging in a conversation about the book will tell it was poorly written, but the basic ideas remained the same. Furthermore, Dr. A, IMO, is not an expert because he too follows the plan and falls off and eats out of the plan now and again. It is a good thing not to be an expert because I don't think I would follow a true Health expert anywhere. But again, as you stated before, it is my opinion, and I will express that how I choose. :) The SBD is similar to the US constitution in that you have several ways to interpret the writing. In P1, of course it would be wise to avoid chicken wings because they are on the list, but as I interpret the food lists, you can add thing back as your get further into your eating. Finding what works for you is on of the underlying points of SBD in my opinion.

We all have different styles on this board. Some I like, some I don't like. You may or may not like everyone's style as well. I was not "putting down" your style, I was simply trying to figure it out as my curiosity was wondering was it better to be strictly by the book, to the middle, or create your own plan. If you found my post critical or bossy, again, that was your interpretation. If I have issues with a person's ideas, interpretation, or postings, I won't sit around and let it go. That isn't me. So far, no one has gotten me to that point because again, I don't any of you guys on the board. A person on this board cannot "get to me" enough for me to do that. I have an ignore button, and I have a next message button (which I use a lot).

To make a long post short (too late), I wasnt't "dumping" on you Ga Girl. I was curious as to how you were stict and do you do when you made a mistake. It's all a point of learning here. Someone else might be strict, might be thinking about eating a piece of buttery, thick crusted pecan pie for Thanksgiving and wondering how the heck are they going to get back on the beach without a lifeguard.

That's it. Whew. I need to stretch before I try to do one of these things again.

Ria :o)

well for those strictly "by the book" it's apparently on the list to avoid. I for one remember that there's been a couple of update lists and some things MIGHT have been overlooked. IN MY OWN EXPERIENCE, EVERYONE, I have had chicken wings (the horror) and haven't had one week where my weight has gone up.

OK, no reason to get rude. Everyone does this diet a little differently...we've already established that. So let's just stop the backbiting, please.
