Hi there, I'll chime in here.

I am 42 and just moved to Texas in June. My H came in October; one of the reasons my eating went down hill...separation stress. We have 4 kids ranging in age from 21 to 13, 2 dogs and a cat. I just started the diet on Sunday. Seemed as good a day to start as any. I have been reading about Atkins for awhile and thought it was just too strict. I don't/can't live without any carbs~but luckily we have been eating ww pasta and brown rice etc for some time so that won't be any change for us. It just seemed to be a well balanced diet and included more fish than we normally eat which is good, and lots of veggies which I love anyway. Plus everything I have read seems to rave about it; I was just in the right frame of mind to start, so I did and it has been pretty easy so far. Plus my family has been happy with all the variety of meals they have gotten to eat.

Hi All,

Well, Maggie, you probably know most of this from my e-mail so you can click "next message". :)

I am 44, divorced three years now, with three kids...my daughter, Erica, is 21 and a junior at Shippensburg University. My son, Justin, is 19, and after a not-so-successful year at college is now looking into joining the Air Force. And my youngest son, Ryan, is 17 and a senior in high school. Next year this time all my chicks will have flown the nest!!! Well...not quite...I will still have my spoiled cat, Abby!

I live in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania (about the center of the state) but work in State College. No one has heard of Huntingdon but most have heard of State College, since it is the home of Penn State and those Nittany Lions. I usually say that with more pride in my voice but they kind of suck this year. I work for a software company doing tech support and testing.

I am not currently dating anyone but am still looking. I know the right guy has to be out there!

I started the SBD on November 1. I picked that date for two reasons. One is I thought the first of the month would be a perfect day to start a new period in my life. The second reason was at least for the first month it would be way easy to remember what day "number" I was on!!! :)

I chose the SBD because I had read about it on the internet...did some research and it seemed to be the right way to lose weight. I am on Day 20 (I know this because it is Nov 20...see?) and am finding it not too bad. I don't really care for veggies, so I tend to eat a lot of salads or eat them raw.

I have just adored reading all of the posts on here and think you are some of the nicest people I have ever "met". I know I couldn't have made it this far without all of your support!

Well...enough yapping from me now.

Later!

Hi,

I've been on the beach for about 10 days, and have really enjoyed the SBD discussions. I have learned so much! Thank you to everyone that has shared.

I'm 50, live in Ponte Vedra, FL (next to Jacksonville), I have a 19 yr old daughter happily off at school, and a 21 yr old son living here struggling at school and work. I'm unemployed right now, so that's why I have so much time to devote to SBD!!!

No other diet or amount of exercise has worked, and I'm not so sure about this (lost 4 lbs water weight on day 2...not an ounce since as many know) My old WOE was 90% carbs and sugar. It was low cal, and low fat, but I wasn't losing. Tried Atkins, gained 2 lbs and hated the food. This diet is so easy!!! I have 15 lbs to lose and I'm going to do it! I'm just a little worried about phase 2. Once the door is opened to bread, I'll lose it. I'm all or nothing. I don't care for veggies, but I eat lots of them now. Love seafood and cottage cheese with s/f jello mixed in for dessert! I feel so good on this diet, now if I can just lose some weight or inches I'll be much happier.

Hi everyone. I'm 41, from Annapolis, Maryland, divorced with 2 wonderful boys, 1 beautiful love bird, 1 crazy loveable dog, and a momma and baby foster dogs. I work full time, try to have a social lif, and life is full! I started SBD on Thursday November 13th. I really want to be successful. Why South Beach? A number of people started telling me about it and lent me the book. The recipes and meal plan seemed reasonable and just possibly something my children would eat without me having to make 2 meals for dinner! My biggest challenge will be sticking with this. I'm going to rely on all of you for help just like I'll be there for you!
