What state do you hail from (USA), ~or~ what nation are you from?

Tell us something about your family.

How long have you been on the Beach?

How did you come to choose the South Beach Diet as your way of eating?

Hi! My name is Heather. I too am new to message boards, the lingo, etc. so bear with me. I have become addicted to this site and find it incredibly motivating. I am 31, with a birthday in two weeks. I live in Chattanooga TN (hold the jokes) but come from many other places, California being the first, last, and my favorite. My family is big and crazy. I am the second oldest of five, with only one brother. I am happily married x 6ish years. We have three dogs: Lilly, a Bouvier; Bleu, a Bassett Hound rescue; and Hershey, chocolate lab rescue. Oh, and Sam, the Scottish Fold cat. I am a LCSW therapist, currently a Program Manager for a residential adolescent males program, and am starting private practice.

I have completed my 5th day of P1 on the Beach. And I love it overall. I am categorically agaist "diets" but this is such a WOE, a way of living that gels with me.

I actual researched the South Beach Diet myself and just felt that it falls in line with what I try to do, but without the structure. I have a history of getting radical and being very unhealthy in my body image and self deprecating, so I am cautious of going down that road again. However, I have gone up almost two sizes over the last couple years, due to giving up my bad ways of staying thinm work stresses/demands, knee injury/giving up running, change in my body in early 30'2, etc. i am sick of promising myself "I'm gonna do it this time" and am just doing it! I feel good, extremely positive, and believe my little sister is going to do it too.

What is your age (or age range if you don't like being specific)?

I'm 23 years old (24 in 2 weeks)

What state do you hail from (USA), ~or~ what nation are you from?

-Texas

Tell us something about your family.

-I'm engaged to the love of my life.

-I have 2 sisters (14 & 19), my mom and stepdad that I will be moving back in with next month (when I graduate) to save up for my wedding. I hope I can persuade them to get on the beach!

How long have you been on the Beach?

-Since the end of September but I've been slacking a little the last 2 weeks, mainly due to tiredness and laziness. I can't wait until school is over!

How did you come to choose the South Beach Diet as your way of eating?

-It just makes sense! It's a healthy way of eating. Plus diabetes runs on my biological father's side and I want to prevent it.

Hi! My name is Michelle I am 25 and from West Texas, but currently live in Fort Worth. I have been married for 4 years and I adore my in-laws. (Probably because my own family is crazy!) I have a younger sister that I think is going to start SB when this semester is out. I have been on the beach since August. I used to eat this way when I was in college and only weighed 105, so when I saw it all printed out I started remembering how I used to eat and decided it was time to get healhty again. I feel so great now, I can't believe I ever let myself get that off track. I love this board and come here everday, but don't post too often because my writing skills are seriously lacking!!

I'm Donna. I'm 40+, married to DH (Peter) for 21 yrs. No kids, but very involved with little niece and nephew (6 and 4) and their big sister (20) who live nearby and would like to be with other little niece (7) who lives in CA. I live in East Walpole, MA, 1/2-way between Boston and Providence - too much good eating withing a 1/2-hour drive of the house in either direction! I work full time in a high-stress marketing job for an engineering firm - trying to figure out either 1) how to make it less stressful, or 2) finding the job for the next phase of my life that will make me happy and pay reasonably well. I believe that 2) is the easier option, even given the rotten economic climate, and will take steps to pursue that in 2004. Why am I on the Beach? Because it seemed doable (it is), my results on Weight Watchers were futile and frustrating, and heart disease is rampant in my family (my dad died of a massive MI at the age of 33); I want to beat the odds. And I like its approach to healthy carbs (not restricted carbs) and low-fat meats and dairy (not the unrestricted pound-of-bacon-a-day that I thought Atkins was when I first ventured into lower-carb eating). How did I find the Beach? Through the popups, in the press, on line.

That's me!

This is GREAT! I love getting to know everyone!

I'm Nancy, 24, and my husband Stéphane (also 24) is also on the beach. We recently got married in june, we have 2 cats. Dixiee Lee and Sativa :)

We started SBD after doing Atkins for 2 months. We were doing okay on Atkins, but I missed fruits terribly. (I know you can add back a little fruit after a while on atkins, but you have to count your carbs so precisely that frankly you're lucky if you can get in a half apple.) Now on SBD I eat a green apple every day! (and I am losing faster and better than on Atkins too!) I just found this WOE to be SO 'natural' and it brushed aways all the worries I had from Atkins. I LOVE THIS WOE !

Nancy :)

What is your age (or age range if you don't like being specific)?

I'm 23 years old (24 in 2 weeks)

What state do you hail from (USA), ~or~ what nation are you from?

Boston, MA by way of Maine and California

Tell us something about your family.

I live with 2 girls and one guy. I have a great boyfriend of 1.5 years. The majority of my family resides in So. CA and mom, sister and nephew in Maine and other sister in GA.

How long have you been on the Beach?

Since 11/20. Trying to keep going. So hard and can't seem to get out of wanting rice!!!!

How did you come to choose the South Beach Diet as your way of eating?

I had gained like 10 pounds and became really unhappy with the way I looked and fit in all my clothes. Yuck. This one seemed like an ok way to go after Zone seeming to tricky and Atkins seeming too.......
