Hi, I want to start this diet, but I tend to stay up late at night, and I always get hungry. Even when I go to bed early, I wake up with hunger pangs even if I ate a lot or a little through out the day! My fear is, what if I am starving on this diet in the middle of the night, and cant eat something? do I have to starve?

I thought the same thing. On other diets I've always been hungry. But on this diet you don't have to manage your calorie intake. The key is eating the right foods. You can snack as long as it is on the "Foods to Enjoy list". If you also eat enough lean protein with your dinner you shouldn't get too much nightly cravings. This diet actually helps you lose those carb cravings. You just have to stick to it! Many people here have succeeded on this Way of eating. I've already lost 8lbs. The best is I'm not a slave to my cravings or hunger pangs anymore. I can eat until I'm full and still lose weight. Good luck.. this is definitely worth trying.

I agree with Angel. And to add...I was off work and a night owl when I began this diet. I ate late (I still don't stick to the typical American mealtimes), and I still lost weight. As Angel said, just make sure you eat allowed snacks, and you should be fine.

There are studies out that talk about eating late and other health problems, such as difficulty sleeping. You might want to make sure you're safe with all these things. I do still tend to have a late night snack, though. For me, it is often a little soy milk or a cheese stick. In Phase 1, it was SF jello or a cheese stick.

And to address your other questions: No, you don't have to follow any of the menus or eat anything specifically on the foods to enjoy list. Eat what you like on the list, but do make sure its balanced nutritionally (i.e., plenty of veggies, some meats, etc.). My parents said the same thing about fish. Your tastes may change over time, but if you don't like it, stay away from it. But do
