1. Do you have a Thanksgiving Tradition?

2. What do you typically do on Thanksgiving?

3. If you were to meet with Dr. A and he said you can have as much turkey as you want and only ONE side, which side would you chose? Or would you say to He## with that I am eating whatever I want, Thanksgiving comes but once a year? (This applies to those on P1 as well as P2)

4. If Dr. A said you can have some dessert, any dessert but no more than 1/2 cup's worth... what would you choose? (This applies to P1 and P2)

5. If you are going to be someplace else for Thanksgiving, will you eat the appetizers? Bring your own, or eat them staying as close to the SB plan as possible? (I.e. Have the cheese but no crackers, etc...)

6. How many will you be celebrating with this year?

7. Do they know that you are on the SBD? Will you tell them?

8. If on P1, will you have wine?

9. Are you going to dress up or wear every day clothes?

10. How far are you travelling? Are you hitting the early bird sales the very next day?

11. Will you start getting ready for the NEXT holiday!?

Get up at 5 AM to get the bird in the oven, cook all morning while watching the parade, clean up all afternoon while watching football!

Stuffing!!!! I will be on Week 4 of P1 on Thanksgiving, but that is the one 'no-no' that I am going to allow myself one small spoonful of.

4. If Dr. A said you can have some dessert, any dessert but no more than 1/2 cup's worth... what would you choose? (This applies to P1 and P2)

Pumpkin Pie. I am making the October P2 Treat for the first time and hope that will satisfy my desire for pumpkin pie!

1. I don't really have a Thanksgiving tradition... we usually wake up, lounge around and watch the Macy's parade... as a kid my dad would take me accross the park. There is no experience (for a kid like it.) I will take the kids one day.

2. What we do depends on the year. We alternate years with my family and his. This year we will be travelling about an hour north to a suburb of Hartford, CT to my aunt and uncle's house where we'll be with my parents, cousins, their kids and neighbors.

3. Funny, because admittedly I still have my sweet tooth, but have lost all interest in breads, pastas, etc... I would have my aunt's corn pudding....... I WILL have my aunt's corn pudding. Mmmmmmm. Like Heaven on Earth. It's on the sweet side... kind of like a combination of a baked creamed corn and cornbread... Aaaahhhhhhhh! (And I most likely will not have stuffing this year. I probably will pass on the potatoes and stick with the green vegetables.

4. Oh yes Baby I WILL have dessert. Probably a small slice of pumpkin pie.

5. My Dh's family is huge on appetizers. Mine is not, that's a good thing. There'll be less temptation, and with the kids they won't fill up on stuff before the big meal.

6. There will be 19 of us this year!

7. My parents know that my dh and I are on the SBD and they know of our success. My aunt, uncle and cousins do not. I am sure they will notice and yes I will tell. (I was not large to begin with... but the shrinkage is amazing!)

8. I am on P2 and so I will have wine, but if I was still on P1 I would have wine anyhow!

9. My aunt and uncle are pretty casual. It's also different with all the young kids around. I just got a new skirt at Ann Taylor that I will wear with a black turtleneck and low heeled black mules... that's as dressy as it will get for me this year.

10. We aren't going far. An hour each direction. I will not be hitting the early bird sales the next day. We are taking the kids (about 2 hrs away) to meet up with dh's cousin's kids at Sturbridge Village in Mass. A very Thanksgiving-Pilgrimy place. Perfect for the holiday. Then we'll hang out at my dh's aunt and uncle's house until the kids' bedtime. They'll fall asleep in the car on the way home. I won't eat too much food there. She makes rich food that does not agree with my stomach -- not good before a long car trip home!

11. You betcha I'll start getting ready for NEXT holiday! Every year before I go to bed on Thanksgiving I go down to the basement and find the old, 2 foot antique Father Christmas and put it on the piano. Then the day after that ALL of the boxes come out of hiding!

I can't wait to read all of your answers!

1. Do you have a Thanksgiving Tradition?

We started a new tradition, my sister and I, by running a half marathon on Thanksgiving morning. Some years, I alternate between my mom and papa's house. It all depends.

2. What do you typically do on Thanksgiving?

Get up early, run the 1/2 marathon, go home and complain how I hurt, listen my bro-in-law practice on the piano (he plays by ear and is finding his notes now), love on the little nephew, cook, eat, cook, eat, eat, eat... lol. family time is great.

3. If you were to meet with Dr. A and he said you can have as much turkey as you want and only ONE side, which side would you chose? Or would you say to He## with that I am eating whatever I want, Thanksgiving comes but once a year? (This applies to those on P1 as well as P2)

I would have to say" NIce to meet you Dr. A, but this is MY time to eat!"

4. If Dr. A said you can have some dessert, any dessert but no more than 1/2 cup's worth... what would you choose? (This applies to P1 and P2)

Oh man... that's hard because I've already told him I am going to eat what I want. However, if the stipulation was still there, I would have to say..... ummmmm.... Pecan Pie!

5. If you are going to be someplace else for Thanksgiving, will you eat the appetizers? Bring your own, or eat them staying as close to the SB plan as possible? (I.e. Have the cheese but no crackers, etc...)

Eat, eat, eat!

6. How many will you be celebrating with this year?

9 and 1/2... looks like my nephew will be my date. Dang it! lol

7. Do they know that you are on the SBD? Will you tell them?

They know.

8. If on P1, will you have wine?

9. Are you going to dress up or wear every day clothes?

EVeryday clothes

10. How far are you travelling? Are you hitting the early bird sales the very next day?

1 hour away and no early bird sales for me:)

11. Will you start getting ready for the NEXT holiday!?

Of course! Christmas is fun!

1. Do you have a Thanksgiving Tradition?

--Sort of. My dad always gives the blessing and EVERYONE always cries. He tries to one-up himself every year!

2. What do you typically do on Thanksgiving?

--Over the river and through the woods (literally) to Grandma's house. Dinner, desserts, and always some kind of crazy game fiasco. Two years ago, someone brought the Survivor board game which resulted in one of my younger cousins locking himself in the bathroom and sobbing because he was voted off the island first.

3. If you were to meet with Dr. A and he said you can have as much turkey as you want and only ONE side, which side would you chose? Or would you say to He## with that I am eating whatever I want, Thanksgiving comes but once a year? (This applies to those on P1 as well as P2)

--Even Dr. A wouldn't be able to pass up all but one of the sides at our Thanksgiving feasts! But if I had to choose, it would be the oyster stuffing. Hands down.

4. If Dr. A said you can have some dessert, any dessert but no more than 1/2 cup's worth... what would you choose? (This applies to P1 and P2)

--Peaches and cream pie. Yummmmm.

5. If you are going to be someplace else for Thanksgiving, will you eat the appetizers? Bring your own, or eat them staying as close to the SB plan as possible? (I.e. Have the cheese but no crackers, etc...)

--I can't pass up the secret family Chex mix recipe. Just. Can't. Do. It.

6. How many will you be celebrating with this year?

--We have between 30 and 50 people there every year. Big family, and we have a habit of adopting people with nowhere else to go.

7. Do they know that you are on the SBD? Will you tell them?

--Haven't told anyone, but won't lie about it if I'm asked.

8. If on P1, will you have wine?

--N/A. And it's Grandpa's whiskey sours I'm more worried about!

9. Are you going to dress up or wear every day clothes?

--Dressed up but not formal.

10. How far are you travelling? Are you hitting the early bird sales the very next day?

--Two hours. I have to work the early bird sales the next day, God help me.

11. Will you start getting ready for the NEXT holiday!?

--Takes awhile to recover from this one!

1. Do you have a Thanksgiving Tradition?

On every holiday with a big meal, we take a "family walk", usually during the day and before we eat (we usually eat around 6PM or so). I think my mom started the tradition to get us kids to let off some steam before we drove her crazy in the house. Regardless, it has carried on and been exapnded upon over the years.

2. What do you typically do on Thanksgiving?

Get up around 8 or so, visit with each other, watch football with dad, take a nap, visit some more, talk on the phone with relatives who aren't there, etc. It's a pretty laid back but very fun day for us.

3. If you were to meet with Dr. A and he said you can have as much turkey as you want and only ONE side, which side would you chose? Or would you say to He## with that I am eating whatever I want, Thanksgiving comes but once a year? (This applies to those on P1 as well as P2)

I'm a-eatin'. I think that most of what we do fits in with South Beach philosophy, anyhow--brown and wild rice stuffing with celery et al, olives, the big bird (of course), green salad, green beans, etc. The white rolls and pumpkin pie aren't SB worthy, but I'll eat them anyway!

4. If Dr. A said you can have some dessert, any dessert but no more than 1/2 cup's worth... what would you choose? (This applies to P1 and P2)

I'm gonna have my pumpkin pie and eat it too--complete with a dollop of whipped cream on top!

1. Do you have a Thanksgiving Tradition?

Yes - antipasti, the Italian touch, every year

2. What do you typically do on Thanksgiving?

Watch the parade and eat! Maybe one of the local HS football games if the weather's not atrocious.

3. If you were to meet with Dr. A and he said you can have as much turkey as you want and only ONE side, which side would you chose? Or would you say to He## with that I am eating whatever I want, Thanksgiving comes but once a year? (This applies to those on P1 as well as P2)

Sweet potato with spiced pecan casserole

4. If Dr. A said you can have some dessert, any dessert but no more than 1/2 cup's worth... what would you choose? (This applies to P1 and P2)

Pumpkin pie

5. If you are going to be someplace else for Thanksgiving, will you eat the appetizers? Bring your own, or eat them staying as close to the SB plan as possible? (I.e. Have the cheese but no crackers, etc...)

My MIL is bringing baked clams for an appetizer. I've had reactions to shellfish this year, so I won't be eating them; I'll serve the antipasti as an appetizer.

6. How many will you be celebrating with this year?

Three others, plus DH and me.

7. Do they know that you are on the SBD? Will you tell them?

Yes, they know.

8. If on P1, will you have wine?

N/A

9. Are you going to dress up or wear every day clothes?

I'll wear casual work clothes.

10. How far are you travelling? Are you hitting the early bird sales the very next day?

Staying home. No shopping the day after - that's MY tradition!

11. Will you start getting ready for the NEXT holiday!?

Yup - house decorating and tree-trimming start the following day.
