I just came back from the food store and am soooooo excited about my food shopping purchases!  Part of recommitting for me involves making sure there are lots of SBD friendly items in my house... I think it would be great to share some of our SBD-friend purchases (maybe each week?) to help give each other ideas and/or remind of things we haven't bought in a while.... What do you think?

Here are some of the things I bought.

Broccolini
Broccoli
Zucchini
Spaghetti squash
Bok choy
Scallions
Lots of fresh mushrooms
tomato & tomato grapes
pickling cukes
Golden apples (less sweet)
Romain lettuce leafs (to use in deli deli wraps)

deli turkey & ham
huge green olives from olive bar
reduced fat cheddar
Eggs (18 package - hard boil 12)

Brown rice (not the instant - to try)
Lentils & barley (I have a great crock pot dish - this is so filling)
canned salmon (for SBD salmon cakes with curry sauce)
Sugar free cocltail sauce (to try)
Metimucil pills (to try - will take one pill with meals)

2 low carb frozen dinners (to try)

Found a "Splenda" cook booklet at the cashier... I bought it (a reward?)

Not all of them are low in sugar; I had to check the labels. The two I bought--a Louisianna red marinade and a Thai ginger marinade--had 1 gram of sugar per serving. Other ones (like the Sesame ginger) had more, so I passed those by.

Oops, yeah--I'm in P3. I still do a lot of P1 and P2 cooking, though, since DH is doing great on P2.

=) Stacy

BTW, I love the quotation under your signature! Who said it?

Grilled asparagus are delicious! Even my husband and son request them. They aren't pretty when done on a grill, but they get an almost sweet flavor to them. I've discovered it can be done in the oven too.

On the grill: Break off the tough bottoms and wash and dry the asparagus. Spread them with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place in a grilling basket and grill a few minutes on each side

Hi Susan,

How do you make your lentil & barley crockpot dish? Would you mind sharing your recipe?
