Hi all:

I see lots of new names on the board, and the old Roll Call post is buried somewhere, so let's take a census again, with some new questions :-)

1) Name, phase, how long you've been on the Beach

2) If you could win lunch (SBD friendly, of course!) with anyone (living, dead, or fictional) who would it be? Why?

3) What's your favorite book?

I'll start...

1) Shan, P2, two months now (wow!)

2) I'd like to have lunch with Nikki Giovanni. She's my favorite poet, and I've recently read some of her prose essays, and I would love to sit down and have a real conversation with her because she just seems so down to earth.

3) I love to read, so it's hard to pick a favorite. One of the best I've read recently was "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire. It's a spoof biography that retells Oz from the Witch's point of view. Great story!

Who's next?

1) Name, phase, how long you've been on the Beach

***Rhonda.

First time was for 3 1/2 months. Lost 15 lbs. and 2 1/2" around my middle. This time, today's the first day.

2) If you could win lunch (SBD friendly, of course!) with anyone (living, dead, or fictional) who would it be? Why?

***Probably Thomas Jefferson, because he was so intelligent, creative (love his architecture), and forward thinking -- a real Renaissance man.

3) What's your favorite book?

***Don't have a favorite. I read a lot of books about nutrition and health and many others about politics/current events. Next two on my list to read

1.) Cyndie - started on Nov 1 and stayed on P1 for 4 weeks. Got sidetracked with the darn Thanksgiving leftovers so I re-started P1 on Dec 1 for 2 more weeks. Still terrified to move to P2!!!

2.) Hmmmm...I am torn between saying Brad Pitt...just so I could sit and look at him the whole time. Or Abraham Lincoln...just to find out if he was really as sad as all his pictures make him look.

3.) This is really tough since I am an avid reader. I adore anything by Stephen King or John Grisham, but I discovered another author a few months ago and have now read everything he's written...with my favorite being Tell No One by Harlan Coben.

Thanks, Shan for the fun questions!!

Hello! Here are my answers:

1. Alicia - Phase 1 - 2nd Day

2. I would have lunch with Laura Bush. I admire her, and would love to discuss her children's literacy program.

3. I have so many favorite books! Right now it would either bee "Irish Girls About Town" by several female Irish writers, or "Welcome to the World Baby Girl" by Fannie Flack (I think).

Fannie Flagg :-) I love that book! Have you read "Standing in the Rainbow"? It's her most recent and my favorite out of all of hers.

Welcome to the Beach! Good luck in Phase 1 :-)

Hi-

1. I'm on a phase halfway between 1 and 2. Been on the beach since just before labor day. (in reference to another post today---no, everyone doesnt quit after a month :-)

2. Lunch---hmmm. George Sand. Would love to know how she hacked it in a man's world for so long and so successfully.

3. Favorite book. Definitely "Love in the time of Cholera" by gabriel garcia marquez. amazing book. perspective altering. second favorite (because books are so good, you can't stop at just one) is "All God's Children need Travelling Shoes" by maya angelou. anyone who's ever travelled abroad or searched for the core of who they are will absolutely love this book.

Thanks Shan, great roll call.

Jennifer, Phase 1, Day 2.

Lunch with who? I don't think any one person impresses me that much. Jennifer Garner would be cool, just to hear her work out routine and dieting plan.

Favorite book: The Wallflower
