What have you snacked on today?
I'm hoping to really finds some new ideas here.

What phase would your snack be alright for?

Let's see today I had a slice of reduced fat cabots cheddar (so good).  This afternoon I had about 6 HUGE green olives I got from the olive bar at my food store.  Yum.  Cravings gone!

I'm on Phase 2.....

My mid-morning snack was a 6 oz. fat free yogurt with 7g sugar (the lowest I've found).

My mid-afternoon snack (eating it right now!) is a small dill pickle, to be followed pretty soon by a portion of almonds.

I'm not too original when it comes to the snacks. I almost always have a string cheese stick in the morning. For the afternoons, I use these little Gladware containers and on Sundays while I'm watching football I make up these little nut cups with 5 dry-roasted almonds, 5 cashews (can't find those dry-roasted, though), 3 pecans and 2 dry-roasted macadamia nuts. Then my night snack is a Blue Bunny No Sugar Added fudgsicle. Gee, I look forward to that thing every night!!!

Hugs,

Today's morning snack was a (rather large) handful of cashews. I will have to start using Cyndi's method of pre-counting/pre-packaging the nuts. In the afternoon I had a few slices of part-skim mozzarella with roasted red peppers and balsamic vinegar. Yum!!

Karen,

Some are not going to like this, and I'm NOT saying you should do this but....

When I was in Phase #1, the only thing I did that wasn't "by the book" was to eat LOTS of nuts (went through a can of cashews or macadamia nuts every other day.... with my kids' help of course) as my snacks.

Susan,

I completely agree with you about the nuts! I have been doing SBD since 9/30, and am basically P2/P3 and I could not have made it without them. It's funny that you say how you now limit them. I was very careful to count them out in the beginning. Now that I have lost the weight, I am sometimes over-indulging. They satisfy the salty/crunchy cravings, and are certainly a better choice than nachos, chips, etc. I eat nuts more than once per day usually, and I am still losing weight.

And, yes, the jarred roasted peppers are 'legal'. Actually I find that several condiments in the pickle section of the store are good. Olives are also a big favorite, and just a couple are satisfying as a snack. I also use them to 'punch up' a tuna or chicken and veggie chopped salad for lunch.

So, this string started me thinking...do you guys eat both of your snacks every day? I've been on phase 1/2 about 2 1/2 months now and i find that some days i need them and some days i don't. When i dont need them i try not to eat them. The problem is that right at the end of my longest stretch of the day (between lunch at 1230 or so and dinner, which usually doesnt happen until 8 or so) i tend to go for a small handful of cashews. which can feel silly an hour before i eat dinner. so i'm wondering...am i doing more harm than good by skipping? am i just trying to be stoic in a way that will ultimately undermine me? opinions? (i understand that i may be asking for more psychological help than may be possible on a board ;-)

Hope
