Hi there. I'm a newbie, just got the book yesterday and have ripped through it. I will be starting the diet as soon as I can get to the grocery store.
However, I have some concerns being a nursing mom and hope to hear some inspiring stories. I am worried that, since I need to start in Phase 2, I might be disappointed with my weight loss results. This won't stop me because it's a healthier lifestyle that I need and want to adopt. Here's what I am wondering though: since Phase 1 is needed to get over the twin walls of insulin resistance and carb cravings (or so Dr. A says), won't the diet be a bit of a torture for me because I haven't experienced either breakthrough and will still crave carbs? More than someone who has gone thru Phase 1? Also, a typical dieter adds carbs slowly back into her diet after Phase 1 and scales back if she figures out she's overdone it. My understanding from the book is that you "feel" it when you've gone too far. How do I establish a baseline? By having just one carb a day - in the book, he suggests an apple to start testing the waters? That's not much different than just doing Phase 1 anyway. But without having gone thru Phase 1, how do I know if it's my usual cravings or from having overdone it? Do the cravings disappear over time anyway?
I hope this makes sense. I tend to over-think things, this is probably another example. LOL! Still, I hope there are nursing moms out there who are doing great on the diet! Thanks!
