Okay, I have to admit I am completely overwhelmed. I start Phase one tomorrow, and have been reading the boards here but there are just SO MANY posts!!!! One of the things I want is to be more active, but I feel like I could sit here all day and STILL not read every post each day!

Any suggestions on how to balance using the board without getting overwhelmed by it?

Welcome Amy to SBD! Please don't be overwhelmed. This is a very active and fast-growing message board but the people here are wonderfully knowledgable and supportive. But if you still feel like there is too much to go through and read... just start simple: If you have a question or need support... Post your own message like you did today. Then just read what everyone responds on YOUR post only. Then when you feel more comfortable and you get used to the regular users, you can venture out and visit post discussions that interest you. Sometimes we even chat so please join us. I also noticed you are looking to lose a significant amount of weight... around 100lbs. I have 65lbs to lose too. I have been on this diet with my husband for a month. I've only lost 10lbs (minor set back because of Thanksgiving) but I've notice a lot more room in my pants.

This way of eating really is effective for health and weightloss. I hope you stick with us and share your success!

Hi Amy,

I find it overwhelming, too. It seems to just continue to pick up speed. But don't worry, just read and respond to what you can, or what you relate to. And when you post, others who will relate will respond. This is a wonderful group, and I really don't think anyone is going to judge you if you don't respond a lot. I don't, and yet when I do contribute, I get lots of feedback from people who relate in some way to what I posted. It's really impossible to take it all in.

Anyway, I also have a large amount to lose. 83 total, but our stats are very similar. At my highest (really that I *know* of) I was 242, in 2000. I started the beach Aug. 28 at 228, am now 196, and my goal is 145.

Lots of luck, and welcome to the Beach!

Thanks guys. I wish I could subscribe to ivillage for those special features you described Mel. Unfortunately that requires a credit card, and ...well, lets just say my willpower with money was as bad as it was with food! lol. So while Im beginning to take care of my body, I have been working on my finances as well.

Anyway, its nice meeting all of you, and I do feel better about not reading EVERY post now.

Truly,

Amy

I know what you mean - a lot of fast-moving, and informative, activity. Maybe the best thing to do is just scan the different discussion topics and go to the outline view to click through the subjects that catch your interest.

I have mixed feelings about having many different sections on the board, but with one this size (and growing daily), the many sections are really necessary. Maybe the best places for you to be looking for info are under General Discussions and Phase 1, then Recipes, and Share Your Success (for inspiration).

Just a thought...hope it's helpful...
