Calling all the single girls...

All right, girls, let's dish...

We keep hearing about all of our married buddies and their DH's and DD's and DS's (anyone else feel like sometimes they're speaking a different language?!), but let's talk about dating and being single for awhile :-)

Anyone notice any differences in their dating lives or with their BF's since starting SBD?

Anyone feeling more confident about asking out somebody you would have been afraid to approach before?

Anyone getting approached by guys you've seen around before but have never made a move?

Anyone MAD about how guys are reacting?

I'll post first...

Shan

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Me, I'm single, but am I REALLY loving it? At times yes, at times HECK no. However, it's where I am supposed to be right now.

I'm so oblivious to the males looking at me, so I don't know if I am looking any different. As for confidence, yeah, I have more. It is a great feeling.

Losing weight has never been about a guy,a guy's reaction, or anything like that. I am me, and if doesn't like that, well, the next one will ;)

Great Single Gal Movies:

Sliding Doors

Notting Hilly

Bridgette Jones Diary

Shakespear in Love

Texas Chainsaw Masacre (wait... is this really a singles movie lol)

OK, I've got a little of all of these going on, which is why I picked the questions...feel free to add whatever you want!

I think the biggest change for me has been the confidence/ego boost out of it all. I'm a total flirt, always have been, always will be, but now I have more confidence about initiating the flirting than I did two months ago...then I would totally flirt BACK if someone else started it, but I would rarely start it because I was a little afraid they wouldn't respond, and how embarrassing is that? Now, I totally start it whenever I feel like it! I'm also a lot less focused on my LDR guy, which could be good or bad depending on who's looking at it and how...he has no idea I'm doing this, and we've been having problems lately anyway, which I would have REALLY been obsessing over before and now I'm less worried about it. We're on hiatus and allowed to see other people, so I think I just might do that for awhile :-) I wouldn't have been thinking this way awhile ago, and I wonder how much has to do with SBD and my results from it.

Anyone else want to jump in?

Well...I have been divorced three years now and got back into the dating arena two years ago. I hate it!! I would rather just find that one perfect (tee hee) guy than date. I actually broke up with my last boyfriend (correction...he broke up with me...on my birthday!) a matter of days before I started the SBD. I joined e-harmony a week ago, but haven't met any of my matches on there yet...and even when I do, they'll have no frame of reference. So, the only gauge of men I'll have for my weight loss are my sons (who are totally oblivious) and my male co-workers. None of them have said anything yet, though. (Sigh) Thankfully, I have the support of my ladies on here. Who needs male approval...right?

Old married lady here (ok, not so old), but I'm responding to your membership on e-harmony. Good for you! On-line services are a mixed bag. The major benefit of on-line? The guy and you aren't reacting to a physical response to each other. You have to get to know the essence of each other in the most difficult way possible, and your willingness to open up to a stranger is amazing. I admire you for trying it. I have two friends who've gone the on-line dating service route. One is getting married to her soulmate in November 2004. The other is now in the throes of new love and is over the moon; it took her a while to wade through some real phonies, but she was patient and stuck with it. She and I are getting together soon so I can hear all about it, but it sounds like a winner. I'm thrilled for them both.

Just two more words, like I always feel I have to say - be careful!

Shan, I'm single and I have a DD, so that puts me in a third category, I guess.

Thanks Maggie...you are such a sweetheart! I have actually been on Yahoo Personals for two years and dated several guys. They were all nice guys, just nothing clicked with any of them. That's why I decided to try e-harmony, since they claim to match on 29 points. Worth a shot anyway. But I am always careful when I meet anyone. I appreciate your concern, though, for sure!

I hope I get as lucky as you did!!!

Hugs,

Cyndie

Cyndie,

Good luck with EHarmony! I did Match.com for awhile, met a guy I dated for a couple of months. My favorite dating experiment by far has been HurryDate, where you have 50 3-minute dates and then fill out a little card about who you do and don't want to see again. I met a great guy through that, although unfortunately I moved out of the city before anything really developed. We're still friends, which is good :-) HE remembered my birthday, even though my LDBF forgot it!

Thanks, Girl!!! I live in a pretty small town...I don't think I could find anything close to me like the Hurry Date thing. Sounds like fun, though!!!

So, when was your birthday? I saw on the other thread that you are a Scorpio like me...so it had to be in the last month. Happy Belated Birthday!!!

So, now that you and LDBF have decided to see others, you can "turn it up a notch" for those guys eyeing you up at work!!! Go for it!!!

Hugs to you!!

Cyndie
