Starting Tomorrow

I am starting the beach 2-morrow and I am worried about starting off the day without normal coffee. On top of that I have a tone of questions and I need help. I've done weight watchers and failed and now I am on to the beach. Is it easy enough to follow, even for someone who does shift work. Even the graveyard shifts?

Welcome to the beach.

Let's get the big stuff out of the way first - you do NOT have to give up coffee. You just have to give up the sugar in it. And use just a splash of Fat Free half and Half or the non-flavored coffeemate.

IMHO, the SBD is fairly easy to follow. I failed multiple times on Weight Watchers, and always felt like I was going crazy trying to keep count of everything in my head. I started the SBD last Saturday, and am down about 5 lbs in the first week. So, I am pretty excited, and I have found it easier to stick with.

I'll be honest, the first few days it seemed like I was going to the grocery store everyday and spending a lot of time cooking. But, that's just because it took some getting used to, as I had been in the awful habit of eating frozen pizza, frozen entrees, or cereal for dinner previously. If I cooked, it was usually pasta. So I had some adjsuting to do.

I find grilling to be the ideal way to cook, and since we just got about 12" of snow, I went out and bought the George Foreman grill this weekend. A great easy way to cook healthy dinners.

Good luck and stay positive.

Thanks for the help. As I was reading the book, I kept reading, decaf coffee, and was like "OMG no way". I hope that this will help. I've tried many diets before and had given up. A co-worker of mine started last week and she lost 9lbs since then. I am fairly excited since we can pretty much eat as much as we want and not count points.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll let you know how day 1 goes.

Thanks fpr your help. I have another question. Is this diet good for people who want to loose a lot of weight. Like say, 40lbs?

I certainly hope so, since I have 74 to lose. 14 down and 60 to go!!!! Just realize after the Phase 1, it will slow down to anywhere from 1/2 pound to 2 pounds a week...and you may hit some plateaus. I keep telling myself, I didn't put it on overnight, so I can't expect it to come off overnight. Slow and steady wins the race!!!

Good luck!!!
