Help! Bad day--Fighting Psych. Cravings!

Oh Wow...did I ever have a rotten, stressful day at work. I ate dinner about 30 minutes ago and I know that technically, I'm not hungry. But my oh my...do I want chocolate!!!! I know it is a psychological craving...but how do I fight it? I'm afraid if I try to eat other approved foods, they won't satisfy the craving and I'll end up going for the chocolate in the end anyway. Plus, I would have consumed all those other things while trying to stop the chocolate cravings!
HELP!

First off...deep breaths!
Second, do you have any semi-sweet chocolate chips in the house? If so, have a few. Even better, melt them in the microwave with some skim milk, Splenda, vanilla, and cinnamon and then dip some fruit in it. It tastes great, and it's P2 friendly. I know you're extending P1, but I don't think it will hurt you to have a little P2 indulgence tonight. Everyone needs a little chocolate every now and then :-)
Besides, we're Pennsylvania girls, we have Hershey running through our veins!

Are you in phase one or phase two. I have a recipe for phase one brownies I can send your way. I also like Russel Stovers Sugar Free Chocolates. They are legal and taste like the real thing. I limit myself to one (I like the pecan caramel clusters) and drink a full glass of water with it. The calories can be steep so I'd stick to one piece. They're made with sugar alcohols so they don't spike your natural insulin levels but if you have too much it will give you gas and act like a laxative. I've had this treat now and again with no negative effects on my weightloss. Hope this helps a little.

I decided to try something totally different for me. I was going to put on my headphones and walk on the treadmill to try and get myself over the 'chocolate hump'. But, I can't find my Meatloaf CD...the darn boys must have taken it!!! Grrrrr... I can't work up a good head of steam listening to Elton John, for heaven's sake!!! So, I am going to look for some other head-banging music and try to walk this off. I told myself I will allow myself a SF Fudgsicle at 8:30. Maybe two, if I'm very good, since I only had SF Jello for a sweet treat today and that's only 10 calories.
Thanks for the pep talk, Shan!!! It's strange how all of you feel like my friends now...and we don't even know what most of us look like!!!
By the way...how did the tight black skirt work on your fellas at work this weekend?
Hugs,
Cyndie
I don't even know what the heck I'm on right now...I am in my 6th week. I did 5 weeks of P1 and was going to do a P2 Light this week...but I didn't add any carbs today at all.
I would LOVE to have your P1 brownie recipe!!! I make brownies quite often for everyone at work and have made myself stay away from them. That would be awesome to have around. Do you know if you can freeze them individually...and then in case of a chocolate attack, thaw it in the microwave?
Thanks, Angel...you are...well, an angel!!!
Hugs,
Cyndie
I miscalculated a bit on the skirt, unfortunately. It had a marvelous effect on everyone except for the intended target. It was REALLY busy, so we had no time to talk and he was in a terrible mood that day in general...he was nicer to me than to anyone else there, but still wasn't his usual self and made no comments whatsoever about the skirt. He told me the next day he was really stressed about finals this week. On the plus side, some of the other people there who have known him much longer than me were coming up to me to see if I knew what was going on with him and to ask if I would talk to him to find out if everything was ok...that's probably a good sign, right? Much better results with my other favorite boy there...he ended up asking me to help him buy some new clothes after his shift ended. I worked with both of them again yesterday...Boy #1 was almost back to normal, and Boy #2 went out of his way a couple of times to come over to talk to me or catch my eye and smile. I love my job :-)
It is strange how you can get to know people like this!
Shan
Too bad your #1 fella was in too much of a funk to notice how hot you looked in your skirt. Next time!!
Thanks again for the pep talk...I feel better already.

Paradise was one of the songs that we played over and over and over on our way to cheering competitions. Why, I have no idea. That and Baby Got Back were the top two songs we played all the time and our coach wouldn't let us work into our dance sections (wonder why?!)
Boy #1 won't see me for a whole week now, I'm interested to see how he reacts NEXT Saturday, after finals, when we work a 12-hour shift together. Whatever shall I wear? Boy #2 is rapidly gaining on him though, he's actually my age and is a total sweetheart as well as being really cute...the kind of guy I SHOULD date, but always end up passing over for a hottie with a smart attitude like Boy #1. I always assume shy boys aren't into me, probably because I'm such an extrovert myself!

So you've been on phase 1 for 5 weeks? I was on phase one for 4 weeks (except my Thanksgiving indulgence). Now I've added back some carbs but only for dinner. My breakfast and lunch are still phase 1 friendly. I had whole-wheat spaghetti last night, yum! Tonight... it's brown rice. Well, here is the recipe for brownies and peanut butter cookies. I haven't tried freezing them... so you'll have to try that and tell us how it went. They usually don't last too long in my household ;).
PB Cookies (they are so good!)
1 CUP Crunchy PEANUT BUTTER
1 EGG
1 CUP SLENDA
MIX TOGETHER AND SPOON A QUATER SIZE BALL ONTO A SPRAYED (WITH I CANT BELEIVE ITS NOT BUTTER) SPRAY, BAKE FOR 10 -12 MINUTES, at 350*F
YOU CAN ALSO DIP A GLASS INTO THE SPLENDA AND PRESS IT ON TOP OF THE COOKIE FOR A SUGARY TASTE........YUM
Brownies!!
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup ground pecans
2 sticks butter (I Can't Believe It's Not Butter or SmartSpread)
20 - 25 packets Splenda
4 eggs, lightly beaten
Preheat oven to 375
Melt butter
Mix in cocoa, nuts, Splenda, & eggs
Pour into buttered 8" or 9" square pan
Bake for 25 - 30 minutes
Allow to cool for 10 minutes or so
Serve with fat-free whipped cream, if desired
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
I found these, and I made the recipie. Pretty good.
1 oz unsweetened chocolate
2 tbls butter (I used the heart smart)
1/3 cup peanut butter ( I used fresh ground)
Melt these three in the mic and stir together. Let mixture cool and add:
1 tsp vanilla ( I used davinci's syrup)
1/4 cup splenda
1/3 cup ricotta cheese
Mix together. Drop into small drops on wax paper. Freeze or refridge. YUM! each has about 3 carbs if you make at least 12. I ended up with 18 small treats!
I found most of these recipes in the recipe section.. if you look at some of the older posts they have great ideas!

Yes, I started P1 on November 1 and planned on doing it for 4 weeks since I didn't lose as much as I had hoped the first two weeks. But, I cheated on Thanksgiving weekend, so I did another week of P1. I was planning on moving to P2 Light this week, but I think deep inside I am still scared of adding those carbs. I brought some SF FF Pudding for lunch today to go with my 2 ham and FF Swiss cheese rollups and my sweet pepper slices. I really should start adding some fruit back in because I am fighting a cold right now. I have some whole grain bread in the freezer and I thought a slice of that toasted with my eggs would be nice...but I thought I read somewhere on here or in the book that you shouldn't add your carbs in the morning.
Thanks much for the recipes...I will definitely try all three of those!!!
I made it through the "crises" last night with just two SF Fudgsicles. Thanks to you and Shan for pulling me through!!! The scale this morning thanks you, too!!! Not quite sure how much it came down because it kept fluctuating while I was standing on it. But, even the highest number it had was down from yesterday!!!
Hugs to you...and thanks again!
