Hello everyone!

I started this diet on November 30th, and it's now December 9th, and I really feel like i'm not losing any weight. I had a really bad old scale, but i may have lost at most 2 lbs in the first week. i went out, bought a brand new scale, and suddenly i'm 5 lbs heavier. i haven't cheated even once. and i'm about 1/2 through the second week and i'm really seeing no changes.

i'm afraid that because this diet is not such a radical change, and i only have about 20 lbs to lose, that maybe it's not working for me.

is there anyone out there, that has experienced this???

thanks!!

Hi, just a lurker here, but you need to cut out the Balsamic Vinegar...it is very sugary!

well, basically here's the deal, i only have at most 20 lbs to lose, but right now, i'd be happy with the half way mark. so, maybe it is going to just take awhile.

but i really haven't noticed a difference in my clothes.

anyhow, thanks for all the wonderful advice-i'll let you know how it goes.

I completely understand your frustration! I started P1 on Dec 1st, so that makes today day 10. I do not own a scale, but let my clothes tell me if I'm losing. I felt good (not great) about it until day 7 or 8, when I seemed to be a large as ever! No change in diet or exercise, but my TOM was approaching! Could that be affecting you, too? I'm still not seeing any results...but it took me much more than 10 days to get to this point! I'm trying to make myself feel better by saying "at least my body is getting healthier, and that's a good start." I was so looking forward to the "8-13 lbs in the first 2 weeks" to keep me motivated, but instead I'm having to look at my overall health and the big picture. The praise and encouragement on the ladies on this site have been such a blessing! Just reading that others are sticking with it and seeing results is motivating!

This is a lifestyle change that you've chosen...weight loss is just a wonderful fringe benefit to getting healthier!

maybe it's related-but i'm not supposed to get my period until a week from sunday-that's seems like a long enough time that it wouldn't affect things, but maybe. what has been your experience, think that's part of the problem? i mean how much weight could you possibly gain from having your period-not that i've gained weight,i just don't feel like i've lost anything significant.

I'm not in total agreement with the minimum 1200 calories per day to lose weight, but I can tell you that if you eat too few calories, your body says, "oh, I'm going into deprivation and I'll slow my metabolism to accommodate the reduction in calories" You end up with less food, unhealthy selection of foods and you don't lose weight! I've found that it's important to follow the guidelines of SBD eating, including snacks for this to work. I only lost 4 lbs the first two weeks, but on P2 am steadily losing a pound a week IF I eat enough food. (I only wanted to lose 15 or so lbs) When you eat the protein, vegies, and things like celery with peanut butter, your body works efficiently and you lose weight. Throw in SOMETHING for breakfast that you like...prime your body to metabolize!!!

hey thanks for your reply! it makes me feel better to know that you only lost 4 lbs in the first two weeks, cause i'm thinking i'll be lucky to lose that much after saturday(that's my two week mark). i'm definitely eating enough, it's not like i'm hungry and i'm ignoring that in order to lose weight. i've been pretty strict with the whole thing, and i haven't cheated at all. i am, however, probably going to stay on phase 1 for another week or so - at least until xmas, i'm thinking. so we'll see what happens. i'm not finding this diet difficult, so i figure why not?
