Just a few questions

So I'm on P1D3 and I have a little problem. First off, I can't find sugar free Jell-o anywhere. Only the light kind. Sugar free pudding yes, but I can't have that right now because it requires milk. So the main thing is, there is a lot of food brands in the book, and being from Canada, more specifically Quebec, there aren't a lot of the foods here that are mentioned in the book. Secondly, besides celery what else do any of you suggest that I can munch on. I suffer from terrible migraines and cheese and nuts are totally out of the question. And on top of that, I had a bite of cheesecake today, and I feel bad. Any help or suggestions. Sorry if I am venting, but I'm a little frustrated and dissapointed in myself. On top of all that, I skipped breakfast because I slept in. Is that wrong?

If you don't do well with nuts or cheese, you can munch on cherry tomatos, slices of peppers, pickles, olives, bascially any of the non-root veggies. Are you lactose intollerant or do you have an allergy to milk?... because I'm not sure why cheese or nuts would cause a headache without causing stomach problems. But as far as snacks go... just be creative... broccoli or cauliflower etc.

You probably shouldn't skip breakfast as it will get your metabolism rolling for the day and cause less cravings throughout the day... but once in a while should not hurt.

No, im not allergic to milk or lactose intollerent. There is a substance in cheese that triggers migraines and nuts do the same. I've had it my whole life and the doctors say that I should just avoid eating cheese and nuts. No-one knows why, but it causes me to have very bad migtraines. Thanks for the advice. I can certainly have the others mentioned, but I'll pass on the tomatoes..yuk!

If you could find out the substance that causes the migrains then perhaps a web search on *substance*-free cheese could yield some potentials... I just love cheese so much I can't imagine not being able to eat it... especially on this diet. It seems to be one of my primary staples now. But good luck with the veggie snacks and welcome to the SBD board!

Something I always liked was Hummus on celery or when I get tired of celery, I use endive leaves.

Kikas,

This is kind of off topic and not at all related to your question, but have you gone to any chiropractors or tried any other alternative healing for your migranes? I used to have migranes really bad to where it disrupted my life frequently and I went to a certain kind of chiropractor one day when I had one and when I left it was gone. I'd never had that happen before. I always had to go to the hospital and get injected with all kinds of drugs just so that I could rest. I have only had 1 migrane since this instance and it's been 3 years. I think it's a miracle! :-) I don't mean to be preachy or anything, I just understand the pain and want you be rid of it!

Before you panic over the Jell-O thing like I did...I'll let you in on a secret. There is no Jell-O flavor in Canada that says "Sugar Free" on the package. I have Jell-O brand Light which (if you read the label) does not have sugar in it...it has Aspartame. I also bought the Co-op (not sure if this chain is in Quebec or not) brand Jello which is cheaper but it also says "Light" and "Fat Free" instead of sugar free. It also contains Aspartame and not real sugar.

I think I spent 10 minutes in the Jello/Pudding aisle the other day because I was bound and determined to have some jello!! hehe. Good Luck & Welcome to the board (I'm new too). I'm also in Canada but in Alberta.

Thanks for your support. I have been to chiropractors and I'm still the same way. I go through the injection stage all the time. So much so, that I now do it on my own. But I guess it's part of my life now which I have accepted. We (the doctors and I ) think that the subtance that causes these migraines happens while the cheese is aging. Weird I know, but I have been good with the Laughing Cow cheese. Finally some cheese. I love it way to much... Thanks again Chellynae!

Good to know Dana. I bought the light kind (found it at WalMart $.99) and had some the other day. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Susan

It's great to know that there is so much support out here. I am just feeling that I am going to fail with this although I don't want to. I have a question though. I found a website that has about a ton of recipes on it for P1. I'm not sure that all the foods are allowed, but I have been looking in the allowed section of the book and so far so good. The only thing is, yesterday I had a bite of cheese cake and as we all know, has a ton of sugar in it. Should I start over from Day 1, or continue with day 4?
