Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please, Please, please. Don't be afraid to eat Legumes. You need those good carbs to keep you going.

I've Susan suggest so many times to eat 1/2 cup of veggies with breakfast, and 2 cups at dinner and lunch. If you can add legumes, this would a great idea. Dr. A is all over those things!

I was a big black bean, Lima Bean, and Kidney bean gal on phase 1.

Ok. I'm done. lol

But Ria, dear....I HATE beans. When I was a kid I would do everything to avoid eating those darn things...spit them into a napkin, even swallowed lima beans whole. My dad made me sit there one night until I finished them. For every hour that went by, he added another spoonful. Finally at midnight he gave up and sent me to bed.

I have been mostly getting my veggies in with salads or cucumber slices or green pepper strips or steamed broccoli.

Sorry!!!!

Beans are also very filling and "stick to your ribs" until the next time you eat!

Heck as long as your veggies are getting eaten, you're fine! I was reading people's menues and wondering where their veggies are! Then, when you tell them to eat beans, they scratch their head and ask why seeing as though their are so many carbs!

Hey, try this, if you ever get adventurous.

Black beans, garlic, onion, pepper. Blend together. Add alittle sour cream if you want it creamy. Add some salsa and some toasted whole wheat pita chips or use as a spread for a chicken roll up :)

So, do black beans still taste like beans (i.e. kidney, lima, pork & bean type). If so, I can't promise to get that adventureous. But, if someone ever holds a gun to my head and says eat some beans or else I'll blow your brains out, I will definitely fix them that way and eat them with a smile on my face. LOL.

Thanks for the advice, Ria!!!

This is just my opinion, but no, all beans do not taste alike. But they all have the same texture. I would say the 'pork and beans' type are similar to black beans. Lima are a whole different taste, somewhat stronger. Kidneys are middle of the road taste wise. Beans tend to absorb whatever flavor you blend in, so pick your favorite. Onions? Garlic? Sour cream? Salsa? Turkey chili? Cold in salads? You can always puree them somewhat and not be chomping on something you truly do not enjoy. I really don't like vegies, but love onions. So I add onions to most of my dishes so that I am enjoying what I eat, and makes it more likely I'll continue to eat well (and continue to lose) ! Ha Ha - I have the same story about peas. I sat and cried and carried on for hours. Then of course I had 2 children that were equally picky, and got the payback. :)

Just filled my crock pot with turkey chili with 3x the amount of a variety of beans!
