New Here and some questions...

Hi. I am planning on starting the South Beach Diet after Christmas. I just did my LAST normal grocery shopping and am starting to plan for my first offical South Beach grocery shopping. I have some questions about phase one though. I notice it has tomato and vegetable juice down frequently for a beverage for breakfast. I hate tomato and vege juice! Is there something I can substitute for it? I really don't like fish, but I am going to try the recipes for fish in the book and see if I can acquire a taste for it. Fish can be so healthy that I hope I can learn to like it. Also, what does everyone do with children. Do you just have them eat what your eating? Do you add anything into their diet that you don't eat. Here's a little info about me. I am a 26 year old stay at home mom of 2 beautiful daughters ages 4 and 1. I am wanting to learn to eat and cook healthier and lower all of our cholesterol a bit. My husband and 4 year old are not at all over weight they are actually very skinny, but they have a lot of high cholesterol in my husbands family so I would like to keep them from having high cholesterol. I would love to lost 20-30 pounds. I have extra weight from having babies that I haven't been able to get rid of. I am a member at Curves but have had to take a bit of a break from it but am going back this week. I am excited to be starting this diet and can't wait to learn as much as I can!

Hi Sandy, welcome to the SBD board, glad you found us!

I have a 12yo and 4yo to cook for besides DH and I and they tend to eat what we eat (at least the 12yo will, the 4yo hates everything...LOL).

So was veggie juice meant to get more veggies in the diet, not really a beverage?

I am lucky that both my girls will just about about anything. Thanks for the quick reply. I am working on making a grocery list from the phase 1 eating plan and am sure I will have lots of questions!

Thanks,

Sandy
