Avoiding the Holiday Bulge
South Beach Dieters have been speaking up on the Message Boards about how they plan to avoid gaining weight over the holidays. Some of their suggestions may work for you, too:
1. "Really enjoy the treats that you eat. Don't quickly gobble them up while feeling guilty. Savor each morsel. If you truly enjoy the moment, you'll be satisfied much more quickly and be able to eat a smaller amount."
2. "Only eat really wonderful food. I've been with some very slim Italian and French people over the year, and I've noticed that they only eat really wonderful food. They don't stuff themselves with large quantities of mediocre foods like most Americans. As a result, they are satisfied with much smaller amounts of food."
3. "Never go to a party or event hungry. Having some source of protein before arriving will offset the cravings."
