I have seen you all talk about hummus (am I spelling that right?) I would like to know if someone can tell me what it is and what it tastes like. I am always exploring new ideas and tastes, but not sure if I want to try this? Thanks for the info.

By the way I am on Phase 2/3 and have been doing this since August and I am proud to say I have lost over 30 lbs and just a few more to go hopefully. I really love this WOE and all the info. I have gotten from this site--great ideas, recipes and support. Yes, I am usually a lurker, I don't usually join in much. It takes so much of my time to just read all the messages.

Thanks for the info. No I have not had garbonzo beans (i know that probably is unusual). I am here in Florida on vacation and I happened to see it in a Publix store. I have stayed right on track on vacation. Once I make up my mind I don't waver a bit. I definately think I will take the plunge and try it for a new taste--I'll let you know what I think when I do.

Thanks again for the reply,

Tamera

The best way to eat hummus is to pour a little olive oil on top, sprinkle it with some cheese (feta is traditional, but Parmesan works too) and dip warm pita into it. The traditional way to do this is to have everyone eat the hummus off the same plate, and you eat the bread with your fingers :-) I like to eat it with olives, too.

Oooh, now I'm hungry for hummus!

I'm a huge hummus fan too! Had some today for my after gym snack. My pre-beach days favorite was a dip for pretzles but have been eating it w. celery. I also sometimes spread it on a slice of turkey and roll it up. There are a lot of different brands out there that definitely don't all taste the same so don't give up if you don't like the first one you try. My favorite is my own homemade (really very easy in a food processor) but my favorite store bought is Hannah Classic. IMO it tastes closest to homemade.

Good luck!

don't know what bf puts in his hummus but it's really yummy and we eat it with pitas, which always run out before the hummus does, then we move to tortilla chips and if those run out we use our fingers! ok tmi

I LOVE this stuff. I put it up there with white bean dip. Great for dipping veggies, using as a sandwich spread, etc. Take to work a lot with celery sticks for a mid afternoon snack. Lots of fiber and protein for staving off cravings! Lots of different flavors-I like the red pepper hummus. Easy to make yourself too!
