Good Morning Beach goers!  Please read this...  I've got a few things going and want to make sure I get everyone in on everything they want to be involved with.  For roll call state your name AND your ivillage id (easier for me to copy/paste if it's in the post itself), then let us know what phase you are in & how long on the beach.  Then state which things I can sign you up for.


#1 - - Board Pride!  (A challenge)


Let's show ivillage how well south beach works...  Look at these stats http://www.ivillage.com/diet/boards/  (it shows how many lbs other boards have lost, how far they have walked, etc. in November).  I want us to show ivillage how wonderful & easy the beach is.  If you sign up for this challenge, I ask you to measure and weight yourselves Jan 1st....  you can keep these numbers to yourself (just save them where you can easily access them).  On the last day of each month I will post a Monthly results type thread, and ask you all to share your progress with us (how many lbs lost, and how many inches).   so we can proudly display our board's progress.

 

What do you say?  Who is in?  If in, measure your chest, waist, upper arms, hips & thighs... and diaphram (that spot right under your boobs).  Just record those stats somewhere (in email you send to yourself, or a document), and also your weight.

 

#2 - Board Buddies

OLDIES: I need lots more Experienced members to buddy up with newbies (our membership here will soon be EXPLODING!).  Please sign up if you can offer support to a new member.  You just need to have been on the beach for at least 2 weeks (which means you are starting phase II).  You can buddy up with more than one member (I plan to have 4 buddies) - PLEASE let me know how many I can pair you up with!!  You can email with them or just look for their posts here and offer support.  PLEASE sign up!  I have individual sign ups in each phase's folders....  Please tell us about yourself there, and browse the phase I sign ups.  If there is someone you are especially interested in being paired with email me (include your & your buddy's name AND ivillage id).  Otherwise I will start pairing up on my own.

 

Newbies: Please tell us about yourselves in the Buddy sign up in the Phase I folder.  Then browse the other folder sign ups and see if there is anyone you think you might want, otherwise I will just pair you up with a friendly beacher.

I am Susan, on the beach since around August I think (did WW for years, then went to Atkins then found the perfect way of eating & dropped 10 lbs and 2 jean sizes in 8 weeks... after a year long stall!!!).

Shan (shandc), Phase 2 officially but revisiting Phase 1 for a few days, on the Beach from 10/1.

I'd be happy to do both. Question about the board challenge...are all of these stats from 1/1, or from our beginning date? I haven't been measuring, but I've been weighing in from the beginning, so I have those stats readily available.

As for buddies, I've already requested one but would be happy to take on any others who want my help.

Hi Susan,

Cyndie here (cyndie1030)...sign me up for the board pride. I measure every Saturday...and FYI, I measure a few more places than that and have lost several more inches from my diaphragm (rib cage...right under my boobs). Plus I also measure my "mommy pouch"...about 6 inches below my waist and then I do a butt measurement 9 inches below my waist. I will do strictly the ones you have requested, but I haven't lost too much from my boobs and several inches from the diaphragm area, so I thought that one might be helpful for others to track.

I already e-mailed you about requesting Susie (susie0607) for a buddy since she and I have several things in common (divorced, age, teen boys, hate exercise!). But, if you are in dire need of more tweeners to help newbies, let me know.

I have been doing this for 8 weeks...5 weeks at P1, 2 weeks at P2 Lite, 1 week at P1, 1 week of cheating big time...and back to P1 this week and most likely for the next 2 while I travel.

Hugs to all...especially Susan...our hard-working CL, for doing this!

Hope (pddaly) on the beach since labor day. Doing phase 2 but about to restart phase 1 after i return from vacation in late january. I'm happy to try to do board pride. Sign me up.

Hi Susan,

I am Jenn (isugarbeets) sign me up for the Board Pride challenge. I started SBD on Dec. 8th. I added in a little of P2 during the holidays. I'm back on P1 as of yesterday for a week and then add in P2. I had measured myself towards the end of my two weeks on P1. I'll start with those measurements. Gained back a pound during the holiday.

I signed up for a buddy on P1. It will be great to have someone to help me along. Get new ideas. But I've received a lot of great ideas just from the board it self. I have a lot of people asking about SBD!

I'll be ready to start the program sometime next week and would love a buddy. Here are the details: I'm almost 55, 5 ft. 4 in., 175 lbs (maybe a couple more since the holidays). I'm aiming for 150 for starters; I would love to lose another 5-10 after that, but I don't care if it takes a while. I belong to a gym and for 6 months I was faithful about going--until about 4 months ago, when I completely stopped. I stretch every day for my back, and at the gym I plan to get back into a regimen of cardio, a gentle yoga class, and then some weights. I like Bob Greene's "Get with the Program" (Oprah's trainer) because he emphasizes taking it slow when adding exercise into your life, especially when you don't like exercise. My nutrition is excellent, but I eat WAY too much food, I'm an "emotional eater," and my metabolism has slowed down to practically nothing! I am dreading cutting out fruit for two weeks; I love grains, but I probably won't have as much trouble with that part. I'm looking forward to this board, and I hope there will be a buddy for me.
