As far as the creamy dressings, since there is no milk allowed on Phase 1, I don't think ranch, bleu cheese, or any dressing with milk added is
Hmmm..... well I'm one of those people who really likes Bleu Cheese, Ranch and Ceasar and I have been eating them from day 1 on this diet.
Ok this is what I found......
Q: I have a fast-paced job, and lunch is always a problem for me. Can I just eat one of Dr. Atkins' bars for lunch, or is there too much fat and carbs in them? If not, is there a bar or something else you would suggest? Also, can I use any regular salad dressing as long as it contains only 1 to 3 g of carbs?
Dr. Agatston: The regular dressing is fine with 1 to 3 g of carbs. When you're on the go, nuts, cottage cheese, and string cheese are helpful. As far as the food bars, it depends what is in it. As long as it is not high in saturated or hydrogenated fats, then it's OK.
Q: I was just wondering what kinds of salad dressing you recommend. I like blue cheese, and am not sure if I should go with a low-fat one or if full fat is OK. (Can't shake the low-fat mentality.)
Dr. Agatston: For dressings, those with the good fats--particularly olive oil--are fine. Vinegar in vinaigrette and oil-and-vinegar dressings helps slow digestion and eliminate hunger. Blue cheese is fine as long as more than 1 to 3 g of sugar have not been added.
I think any dressing is ok as long as it's not higher than 3gms of carbs..or sugars....

Well, there we have it...thanks, Mel!
I still don't get how milk in one form is OK, but milk in another form is not. I thought the idea of Phase 1 was to get rid of sweet and carb cravings (not that I've been totally successful with that, for I have little will power when actually exposed to sugary snacks). This make ssense to me for Phase 2, but not for Phase 1. But Dr. A didn't specific in the link you gave, so maybe not...
Maybe just as a non-bleu cheese dressing eater, I just don't get it! Happy eating, everyone!
Susan :)
