Would SBD work for me???

I m planning to start the SBD as lots of people seem to be happy with it.

My question is: I m 5' 5'' and 127 lbs. Need to lose 8 to 10 pounds. I have a very small frame and compared to other people my height I look bigger than those who weigh 140 lbs!!

So I realized that my weight is a little above the ideal. Is the SBD good for loosing 8 pounds only? and how long will it take to get rid of them? Anyone who is carb-addict tried the SBD and would like to share their experience with phase 1??

Thnx to everyone

J.

I agree with everything Susan said, so you should at least try SBD for those reasons. My body shape and size is identical to yours. I needed to lose 10-15 lbs, at 5'5" and 130. In 2 years time, no other diets worked because my body would go into survival mode and make do with the small amount of calories I was giving it with no weight loss. During P1, I only lost 4 lbs (on the second day), so I cut it short by 4 days cuz nothing was happening. In P2, I have lost a pound a week, every week. Over the holidays, I cheated here and there, but was able to maintain my loss (10 lbs so far). (I drank wine, ate candy, crackers and even a whole piece of apple pie!mmm) It's an easy diet, it works, and you will lose. I am SO happy to be back in my designer clothes that I can button, zip and look good in. I missed them so! Go for it and good luck.

Alpasda-

i agree that this woe could work for you.. I was in a similar place to you. I am 5'5" and for years had hovered around 130/132. I had recently put on some weight and had gotten up to 138, the heaviest i'd ever been. I've been doing sbd for 4 months and have dropped to 120 (really, i did that in 3 months and have been maintaining through the holidays as i've indulged a little more than i would typically.) I'm looking forward to dropping a few more, slowly, in the early part of 2004. It's absolutely changed the way i look at food. And so gratifying to like what i look like in clothes again!

Best of luck to you.

Thank you all,

I will try phase 1 for a week. If results are visible I will go on for another week. I have been sick for few days and lost 3 pounds in one week since I have not been eating at all. Just drinking lots of juice to fight a strong flu. so I m actually much lighter than I was 2 weeks ago. I m at 124 now and I want to loose only 6 pounds. Do I need to exercise daily with the SBD to loose more than 2 pounds a week? what happens if you dont exercise? I will try to fit some workout in my schedule if I m feeling better but I dont want to make an effort as I m worried not to recover from the flu.

thank you guys for sharing your experience

I m so excited to start this diet and hopefully I will stick to it for a while

I agree with the others. I'm just under 5' 6" and was 148 pounds when I started in August. I love sweets, and had been eating a lot of the wrong kind of carbs prior to beginning the SBD (spaghetti is yummy!). I've maintained around 120ish since the beginning of December and feel great! (I still eat spaghetti, but it is the whole wheat kind now). At this point, I can go off the diet for a few days without gaining, but then come right back again and eat to maintain my health and weight.
