Question about V8

I'm not a fan of tomato juice, but in order to get the veggies in with breakfast I can chug a V8 and move on. My question is this...how do the different V8 juices compare according to SBD. For example...

Lemon Twist V8 lists tomato juice as the 1st ingredient, with

50 calories, 0 fat, 620 mg sodium, 10 g carbs, 2 g fiber, 7 g sugar, 2 g protein

V8 Splash Diet Berry Blend lists carrot juice before the others, with

10 calories, 0 fat, 80 mg sodium, 3 g carbs, 0 fiber, 2 g sugar, 0 g protein

The key here is that it's sweetened with Splenda...

It seems like a no-brainer, but I have to ask...which one is best for SBD. I'm confused by the whole carrot thing. If they're higher on the GI, how is this one lower in sugar? The berry blend was surprisingly delicious...I hope I can stick with it! Please give me your opinions :-)

Hi Deb, the "Splash" V-8's like that Berry Blend, I believe there are several flavors/versions of it, are fruit juices and they're not on the SBD plan.

Maggie,

You're right...a little research on the V8 website made that a little clearer. Here's what it mentions about the antioxidants.

"Antioxidants: Several essential vitamins (A, C, E) function as antioxidants. Research suggests that antioxidants may play an important protective role in slowing some of the changes that occur with normal aging. V8 Splash® and Diet V8 Splash® juice beverages are excellent sources of vitamins A, C and E. V8® 100% vegetable juice is an excellent source of antioxidant vitamins A and C. It also contains the natural antioxidant lycopene, which gives tomatoes their red color."

Ask and ye shall receive! Darn it! I'm just gonna have to chug the tomato version and chase it with water!
