Anyone do Curves & SDB with success???

How often do you work out at Curves & get results?

Do you walk on other days????

What sort of exercise do most successful people on this board do???

I have just started SBD and I have had a membership to curves for about six months now. I haven't went in about two or three months since we have all had the flu. I plan to start going this week again at least three times a week, so I won't know how well I do on them for a month or so. But doing any exersise and eating right should work just fine together. I really enjoy going to curves and I always feel better after the work outs, plus I was trying to walk or do pilates at least three times a week too. I just don't like their diet plan so when I tried it, I failed bad, with the diet and the exersise because I got really sick (dizzy, queezy, passing out, ect.). Good luck, if you try SBD and curves workout I would love to hear how your results are coming along!

Good Luck

Jedi

P.S.

I did get some inches lost while working out at curves just three times a week.

I started Curves in October and have been going 3 times a week. I am on Day 4 of Phase 1 of SBD so I can't speak for the two of them togethr (yet). My plan was to continue running on my treadmill on the days I didn't go to Curves but I have slacked there and going to Curves 3 times (occasionally 4) a week has been it. I'm loving Curves though. Get both a cardio and weight workout in about 35 minutes. If you go at the same time every day you really get to know the other "regulars" and have a great time! I have been going since beginning of October and have been measured twice - as of Dec 1 was down about 12 inches (cumulative) and 7 pounds (no dieting).

I really was shocked at what a great workout I got the first time. I fully expected it to be just toning but I actually get my heart rate up and a good sweat going the entire time. I also hesitated to get measured after my first month - thought it would be too soon. But I did and could not believe that I already had results! Due to be measured again but I am waiting until next Tues because I only got in one workout while we were away last week and I want to catch up.

Also forgot to mention that at my last measure in my body fat percentage had decreased 4 points - almost right into the "good" range for my age and height. So I am all for it and only think that combining the SBD with the workouts will make it better.

Go for it!! If you want to e-mail and be Curves/SBD "buddies" LMK

Wow- I've been Curving it since Sept & haven't lost but about 1/2 cumulative.

I had a loss in fat percent of about 1.2%.

They told me THAT was good - wasn't sure if they were lying!

Are your results typical???

If so, something's wrong with me!

I'm not sure if they are typical or not actually - I have only gotten to know the other ladies since joining and not well enough to ask them their results. I will say that the one downside I see to Curves is that the machines let you choose work as hard or as easy as you want. So you can think you are getting a good workout and maybe not so much so. Kind of like walking on a treadmill forces you to choose a speed whereas walking on a track you never really know how fast you are going KWIM?? I really work out hard the entire time. I do step aerobic moves on the steps (not the resistance stations) between machines and try to do the machines as hard and fast as I can. I work up a major sweat during my 35 minutes but I notice some of the other ladies often look fresh as daisies. Maybe try to give it a little extra umph? Count your reps and challenge yourself to do x number more each day/week/month - whatever - to get you moving more??

I wouldn't worry about that too much. One my roommates goes to Curves, she joined in June or July, and has not had the kind of results that 2forpeg has had!

I'm hesitant to ask her what her results have exactly been because I know that they have not been what she was looking for, so I can't say exactly how much has changed for her, but I will say (since she's not around to read this) that there are a lot of people who don't live with her and don't see her every day who think she has actually gained some weight since starting.

Of course, she has not been watching her diet in this time. There's actually been some tension here because I have not joined a gym (can't afford it, so I work out at home), but have lost 20 pounds with SBD since October and she has not seen nearly those results since working out over the summer. She does go to the gym almost every day, but there are times when I want to ask her if she's really serious about it all...today, for instance, she came home from the gym and had pizza and soda for lunch. I don't preach about SBD unless someone asks me what I've been doing, but I offer to cook dinner for everyone whenever I'm home...she gets offended if I make something else for myself if what she's cooking doesn't fit into my plan for the day. Some days I eat it just to keep the peace, but most of the time I just pre-emptively offer to make something we can all enjoy.

Wow, this was longer than I intended, but my main point is that I think Curves works if you pair it with other lifestyle changes, like SBD. Since I'm not a member, I can't say anything about what the workout does for you, but any amount of working out will not help you if you aren't eating right. I made the same mistake a couple of years ago with Bally's. I was working out five days a week and loving it, but lost less than 10 pounds total. I think most people need the combination of the two!

I totally agree. The main reason I started Curves was that I had been running almost every morning for a very long time and not changing a thing. I was up to 4 miles a day and was gaining weight and while my legs looked great the rest of me was (still is kind of but I'm working on that ;)) a mess. I think that's why my initial results at Curves are so good. My body was dying for some weight training to tone.
