SBD and colorful foods

Don't laugh.... i am laughing enough for everyone.
I've been eating SBD style for 4 months now. I just noticed today that my dinners are so UGLY in color! lol. Like tonight...
4 OZ lean hamburger patty (brown)
1 oz cheddar (orange)
1 cup green beans (green)
1 cup greens (green too... duh)
1 small pickle (green)
So, what do I do? for a little more color, I put a little mustard on my patty.
Anyone else having color isssues?

If I could have made tonight's dinner taste halfway decent, it wouldn't have mattered if it were all gray or purple! I tried the latest "balsamic chicken" recipe that came through the daily dish last week. I thought I followed every step, but (hopefully) not! It tasted awful! Aaahh, just as my confidence in the kitchen was on the way up... I had to bring myself back to Earth! Green beans actually made it taste better, or at least camouflaged it enough to get it down!
Oh well, you don't learn new things if you don't try them! God bless my DH for not making me feel much worse about it...he took it like a champ! But now that I think about it, he found an errand that needed to be run right after dinner...hmmmm....could he be enjoying fast food??? Hee hee!
As for your question...if the colors on your plate get you down, keep a picture nearby of the body you're well on your way to having, or one of a colorful swim suit. That should remind you of the big picture. Come on...if I can drink V8 (ugh!) you can do this!!!!
I believe in you!

The colors don't get me down at all :) I've reached my 2nd goal weight, and I don't fret about what my body looks like anymore. I accepted the fact that I was an Amazon around my last birthday. I'm proud of it too:)
Thanks for you help! As for the tomato juice... it's all you sis-tah! I wouldn't touch the stuff! lol.

212/184/nothing less than 175 (i think)
As a matter of fact the pepper and eggplant recipe posted on this site tastes very good if you do it well. It is considered Veggie. I like spinash too so if you like it add it to your plates and you get Deep green as well. I miss Orange juice and fruits they have the best colors!!! I also have a trick for candies I eat chocolate mints with zero fat zero sugar. They taste like real chocolate but last few seconds.
I really enjoy reading your posts...and your outlook in general! I don't relate as well with the ladies wanting to lose 5 lbs to get back to 102 !!! I'm 5'9" with a large frame, and anything under 160 makes me feel anorexic! (Of course, that's still 40 or so pounds away. And I haven't seen 160 in 10 years!)
Thanks for keeping it fun around here!
Debbie
I am 6 foot tall, naturally curly hair, and I am on a big boned frame (8 inch wrist). I don't have a butt, I have nice enough legs, and I think I have enough bosom to feed an army (what a pic and thought that must be! lol). I call it my "ample boo-zum")
Yes. I have issues. I always thought that 192 was as low as I could go. It was the lowest I have ever been in my post highschool life. See, I have three sisters, and we didn't have a scale in the house. We might have driven our parents crazy! lol. So, now that I see I am at 184, it is a weird feeling. I mean, I look fine now, and I am getting all kinds of compliments and "look-sees," but the way I think, I am wondering what the heck I looked like before! lol.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... what fun!
Take care!
Okay back to color....I think my lunches are more colorful then my dinner's. I had lettus, onions, peppers, tomatoes and cheese with chili on top. Yum Yum! For dinner I stir fried left over chicken, broccoli and cauliflower in olive oil and garlic. That was yummy too. Oh I made some colorful quiche tonight. I must be all those veggies. Then I had a nice brown fudgecicle!
Good luck girls on adding color to your plate.

No she hasn't. She played basketball in highschool and college and was heavier. This is the smallest she's ever been. And it's not even her goal. I'm not sure what she's thinking. I don't think like that. And try to tell her she's not going to look good with skin over bones. She won't listen. Can't say I didn't try....but I'm going to keep trying. Won't let her get out of hand.

Well, I wouldn't add food coloring to the mashed "potatoes" like our school cafeteria did to regular mashed potatoes earlier this year, LOL! They looked like play-doh....
In the winter, I buy frozen peppers. I can still get green bells at a good price, but not reds or yellows (peppers, I mean!!!!).
Sliced tomatoes (romas are still a fair price here...don't know about elsewhere) and red, green or yellow apples on the lettuce leaves are a couple of other ideas.
Even on SBD (more so on P2) I have many colors in my meals... for example:
Ham steak with sauteed brussel sprouts and oven roasted sweet potatoes (pink, green, orange), or
Greek salad with feta, red peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, olives, or
Salade Nicoise with tuna, lettuce, olives, green beans, hard boiled egg, red pepper, and cherry tomatoes, or
Grilled chicken with sauteed haricots verts (the skinny string beans... mmm, I just love those!) and SBD mashed potatoes, or
Grilled salmon with broccoli and SBD mashed potaotes, or
Chili made with lowfat meat, and beans and brown rice...
I always try to have three colors in my meals (dinner!)
While on p2, sometimes red wine is an added color ;), but I am back to P1 and will remain here for another week or so!
